Sure, no problem. I think you know I was not an Obama supporter before - was a Hillary backer, but there's no way I will vote for a continuation of policies from the past few years, especially Iraq.
1. I honestly think Obama is a principled man, for the most part. I like his personality traits and his seemingly good family values, especially considering where he came from.
2. I respect where he came from, what he accomplished coming up, and admire his intelligence and leadership qualities. I think those will serve him (and our country) well as President.
3. Now, more than ever, I feel a Constitutional Scholar is important feature for a President in leading this country. The past 7 years have been an unchecked assault on our Constitution from the current administration, IMO, and would like to see a new perspective on that.
4. I personally think that being a good communicator is one of the most important positives that a President can have in many different areas. Good communication skills can motivate others, help other countries feel better about what the person is talking about. They can be a plus in building alliances and strengthening relationships, both at home and abroad. And his skills can repair damage that has been done on this front by the current administration. Obama kicks ass in this area.
5. I feel he will pick people well to stand with him as leaders for our country. A good cabinet, and people in important positions. Biden is a good example (IMO). Compare that to Palin, all I have to say about that. I feel he will listen to others (the good people I think he will pick) and use their judgments to formulate policy. I don't think a close group of suspect individuals will dominate our policies moving forward - and this is a big thing for me.
6. Although he probably stands for more liberal things than I do, he definitely represents my views better than McCain, or whomever McCain is this week.
7. If something happens to him, the person I like the most of any of the people running for President will then be President. The other view - Palin? One of my most disturbing fears. Not really a prop for Obama here, but a voting thought for me.
8. 8 Years in state legislature. Highly populated one at that.
9. Nearly 4 years as a Senator of Illinois. That makes 12 years of legislative experience, and he is/was a member of many committees and panels during that time, very diverse legislative background. Should prepare him well for what he has to deal with in the White House.
Extremely intelligent. Experienced. Personable. Strong Character. Great Communicator. Motivator. Sounds like a good President in the making to me.[/QUOTE]
:toast: Best attempt I've seen yet.
Intelligent yes
Experienced--junior Senator?
Character What do we know about his character other than the characters he's associated with.
--and that he'll change positions at the drop of a hat from primary to general election--you don't want to bring his Ill voting record into play do you?
Maybe you could elaborate on his character traits you admire--
This could get interesting.
Motivator-great communicator-Personable
