Going to keep a running tally for the playoffs like I did in the NBA last season. I had a nice run in the NBA playoffs making a decent amount taking the Cavs almost every game vs. the Pistons. Hopefully this year's playoffs can produce some nice winnings as well.
Anaheim @ Boston - At first glance, the Red Sox look fairly awesome with their stacked lineup, the Fenway faithful making tons of noise, Lackey's lack of succes vs. Beantown, Beckett's 2-0 career record vs. the Halos, etc. However, this line opened at Boston -145 which sounded correct and has jumped to -160??? Beckett also pitched terrible against Minnesota last Thursday (I watched the game and his stuff wasn't fooling anyone).
Lackey was 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA in his final 3 starts this season. His ERA is lower than Beckett's ERA and Boston really hasn't been that impressive in recent weeks.
Angels +150 for 8*
Just to be the Contrarian, if I wanted to win 12* on Boston, I would need to lay 19.2*:com: However, I get the hotter starting pitcher at this price and I like the value.
Cubs @ Arizona - Another excellent pitching matchup. Webb and Zambrano both have great stuff which is one of the main reasons both teams made the playoffs. However, Big Z hasn't given up an earned run in his last 2 starts and Arizona's storybook season appears to be headed towards a quick ending IMO if they lose this game. Webb has an excellent ERA because his streak of his streak of scoreless innings. However, he's been more than hittable lately. Soriano and Ramirez have been very hot for Chicago as well and I like the Cubs to take game #1 and win this series about 3-1 if this happens.
Cubs +125 for 8*
I'll keep adding to this post during the playoffs.
