Where it is real F ing COLD
Cancer cells take a length of time to mutate so this man was going to pass away at this time regardless of the Sandusky situation I would think. Although maybe the state of depression or emotional response helped the cells mutate a little faster..

People who appear healthy can decline very fast and quick.

Sorry he is going downhill fast, and if it is stress, I truly hope he is seeing visions of those kids he could have helped.

No one is perfect, and I am not for sure; but forgive me if I don't shed a damn tear for any of those bastards involved.

He did what he should have:shrug: What do you not get, he didn't see the criminal act his little red headed former player saw it, why didn't he go straight to police? Queasy should be locked away with Sandusky in my opinion

Glad he is not dead. Now he can suffer a little more. No place in my heart for child molesters or people who cover for child molesters...

He just now passed away.

RIP

Well, the entire situation is sad. A flawed man who did so much for so many. It's a shame that his legacy will be forever tied to the Sandusky sex scandal.

He was a generous man with his time and money and certainly helped mold boys into men. That's why his lack of action regarding Sandusky is so frustrating and inexcusable.

He did the absolute bare minimum by reporting to his superiors what he was told about Sandusky but in a city and state where he was probably the most popular or known figure, he could have and SHOULD have done more.

R.I.P. and may God have mercy on your soul JoePa.

It is indeed a sad situation all the way around. Right now, I think it's appropriate for people (the ones that want to) to mourn the loss. Those who don't agree should respect that and not stomp on a man's grave (a very fresh grave at that). Obviously there is a time and place for everything....and right now, I just feel like it isn't the time to pile on.

RIP JoePa

This is what his family should be praying for.

I am sorry, and know this isn't a popular opinion, but I came home from the store and my wife is glued to ESPN and I told her that I am not going to sit around and watch a Paterno love-fest.

My grandfather died when I was in high school. He was a fantastic person, ran a business that gave thousands of people jobs - therefore "touching people's lives", but he did it without covering up for scum of the earth.

Certainly, I am just bringing this up as an analogy. I get why this is big, but forgive me if I don't join the country in a Michael Jackson type circus.

If you don't have kids, I understand why I might come across as being a prick. If you do, look at them and imagine someone doing the bare minimum to protect them, and ask yourself if you would be satisfied with that?

regardless of a persons opinion on a man, he should never be judged on the day of his death. many people are mourning right now, last thing anyone wants to hear is someone bashing their loved one who has passed...

i have stated numerous times that i was disgusted by his actions, or lack of for that matter, but i am still extremely upset that he has passed.

the man did so much for so many people. I will always remember the sandusky scandal, as most will. That being said, i am not going to allow that to have me forget that thousands of lives he has changed in a positive way. Yes he messed up, yes he should have done more, yes i think it was disgusting.

but if you go back over the years, there are literally thousands of children, teens, and adults who have improved their lives because of this man. He helped those people directly. that is all i want people to remember. That this sandusky scandal is not a direct reflection of how he lived the majority of his life.

sad day.

i heard someone say today, "the world is a better place now".

apparently they only knew of the sandusky scandal. I can promise everyone one thing, and that is that the world is not a better place. He positivley influenced so may people its insane. Yes i am sad for the victims of sandusky. They deserved so much better. but i will not forget about all the other great things the man did, because of this one incident.

hedge........if it were your kids that were molested you'd have a different opinion.

He protected a child molester.

Now he's dead.

When you protect a child molester you are scum in my mind.

The fact he's dead changes nothing.......

Cannot compare boeheim to paterno based on information that is available.

Sorry, I thought charges against FINE were originally made in mid 2000 , and he stayed on the staff. Plus I thought Boeheim defended him before firing him later althought no charges were filed. My bad. :0008

A big difference with some charges and a grand jury indictment.

At least you can admit when you're wrong.
