Vanished into vortex
I gotta put down a concrete slab to put a hot tub on with the new porch I am building so it has to be done first.

I am guessing 7x7 and 4-6 inches deep?

Is this as easy as nailing together a form and leveling it off?

About how much concrete will I need, is this something I can do or do I gotta call a truck in for this?

Not much of a concrete guy.

Thanks

WELL I WOULD DO A 8X10 SLAB 6 INCHES THICK
FORM OUT BY USING 2X6'S
ADD A BED OF STONES 3/4 INCHES

LEVEL OFF YOUR FORM 10X8 AND ADD STEAKS
SO THE FORMS DON'T MOVE OR BLOWOUT

YOU WILL NEED 1.5 YARDS OF CONCRETE OF 3500 PSI

I WOULD CALL AND HAVE A READY MIX COMPANY DELIVER THE CONCRETE

IT WILL COST YOU AROUND $300 TO $350 BUCKS TO DO YOURSELF

EDGE YOUR CONCRETE WITH A TOOL EDGER
AND TROWEL YOUR CONCRETE DOWN AND MAYBE HIT THE TOP WITH A LIGHT BROOM

Ray I am putting in a driveway in several weeks--probably will be in the high 40's or 50's for temp--is that an ok temp for laying concrete? What is a cut off point temp wise for when you do not want to lay concrete--thanks

THE TEMP WILL BE FINE , 32 DEGREE AND UP
USE A 4000 PSI MIX WITH 1% CALCIUM WITH HOT WATER IN THE MIX , WILL MAKE THE CONCRETE SET UP ALOT FASTER

ITS GOOD TO USE 6X6 WELDED WIRE IN YOUR CONCRETE

ray that sounds a bit cheap but I have been out of the feild for awhile. getting a truck to come out with that small amout of concrete is tough. Penguin if they give you trouble do you need a pad anywhere else so you can up your amout of concrete? He might want to also make sure he keeps his steaks below the forms to make it a little easier. If the slab is against the house i sure hope its pitched right. Id still get the truck tho cause id hate to mix this myself. as for the guy with the driveway i think i would go with blacktop. Concrete driveways tend to get messy from leaking cars. You might have a nice car but do al your friends? If you keep maintaining them its okay but who wants to do that?
