re: wife's 40th, looks like Vegas it is...

so far in searching, I have a 4 night stay, airfare, carrot top and blue man group on different nights, and a few other small things for $1600. Good deal or no?? That's at Circus Circus. I'm going to start searching all of the old Vegas threads here. Thanks for any info.

I feel like pt1gard; up all night posting to myself and obviously frustrated!! :mj07:

I just figured out that going the last week in February is going to be over $600 cheaper than when I was planning to go the second week of March. :wtf:

Guess I'm going to be going earlier than I thought!!

because of march madness.

stay away from circus circus. try to get up near planet hollywood, bellagio area. lots of places within walking distance there.

of course the whole strip is walking distance for DTB :mj07:

Location, location, location. Get more into the central area of the strip. Try Harrahs, Ballys or Flamingo. These are all nice places with good location.

I'm thrilled that this week is way cheaper. Really, the week I chose was pretty arbitrary, so it doesn't really matter.

looking at several now. These prices are for (1 person) 4 days and that includes travel protection and airfare and transport. What would u choose, Jack, et al??

i like planet hollywood because it's right across from the bellagio and i spend time over there and it's a nice walk. planet hollywood has some fishy 1/3 NLH too, so i've heard.

i'm thinking you and your wife will want to walk around and anything in that area is good for that.

harrahs is a good spot with caesars across the street (shopping)

ballys is right in the middle of all that.

here's a map

http://www.lasvegasmaps.com/stripmap.html

don't be afraid to spend the extra hundred for a good location (25 bucks a night - pfft)

you'll have a blast.

bring back lots o pics :D

Clint--being the thrify (cheap) sort I went Statosphere route. Wasn't as bad as everyone told me.
--The good news was a wife found poker machine you could not lose on there--I only let her play 1 quarter (cheap) at a time and she won everyday--If I had let her play the max she would have been up couple thousand--but then she'd been hooked for life so still glad I didn't.

Bad news is Strat is on very end of strip--and she had to walk "everywhere" took almost 3 hours to walk to Jacks "highroller suite" then she had to walk to other end of strip --AND BACK to Strat.
If that wasn't bad enough she went in quick shop bout mile and half from Strat on way back and came out with gallon jug of water to take back to room--felt like it weighed 100 lbs by time I got back to room and still walk with a tilt:cry:

Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower ( Standard ) 431.50 No, but eating at the restaurant at the top would be a good idea.

Imperial Palace ( Deluxe ) 451.50 No Way :scared :scared

MGM Grand Hotel & Casino ( DLX Deluxe ) 526.50 Y Las Vegas - Strip

Bally's Las Vegas ( Standard ) 541.50

Harrah's Las Vegas ( Standard ) 551.50

Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino ( Deluxe SPCL ) 556.50

The Mirage ( DLX Deluxe ) 591.50

TI-Treasure Island ( DLX Deluxe ) 591.50

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino ( 5DR 550 DR ) 596.50

Any of those would work, except the first two which I commented on in bold.

I like Treasure Island myself of these. Some new renovations.

Harrahs...ask for the Mardi Gras tower if you stay there, its all modern compared to the Carnival tower. Good choice for a 1st time visit in my opinion. Central location, not to overwhelming.

I am guessing you arent a comp member at any of these places? That would really help our room rates.

sixfive....

i just came back from vegas....& was in almost every hotel on the strip....

we stayed at nyny...& i didn't like it because i felt that the casino is very cluttered...

planet hollywood is a very nice hotel (remodeled) & they have a nice mall.....but i noticed that there were alot of young people there....

and stay away from the mgm...it is very crowded & is like a small city...

imo, the best hotel for the buck is the monte carlo.....very nice looking hotel & spacious...but my favorite hotel is the mirage..

if your wife likes shopping take her to the forum shops at caesars.....make sure you see the water show at the bellagio (i think it starts 15 minutes before the hour)...hotels to see...bellagio,venetian,& wynn...also try the buffets at the bellagio,wynn,mirage....

vegas is a great walking town....so bring comfortable shoes...:142smilie

enjoy...

I would recommend Monte Carlo as well. Really good location and not too expensive. Worth a few extra bucks but not the extra necessary for Bellagio, Mirage ,Caesar's.

No Strato!

Have fun!

I would ignore Madjack's advice and get the tickets now. Having times scheduled on your trip helps ensure that it's a romantic weekend for you and your wife and not "Clint's horrible beats at the $2/$4 weekend" while wifey feels neglected.
