Yep... and took Paterno down with him. AND the guy that supposively WITNESSED it still has his job? Could someone explain that? WHY? Everyone has their own opinions, but to me, alot of people are going down from the actions of one. I do have a problem with that.
I guess we'll see in the near future.
I could not disagree more with your absurdly myopic take.
Does anyone here have facts of your own as well? Or are you basing your opinion on the information being put out by a conglomerate of media people that have been trying to over the top outdo each other with their cries of how wrong this is.
The way this escalated - from 1 guy saying it needs to be investigated, to the next guy saying JoePa needs to resign, to the next going going one step further saying JoePa needs to be fired, to the next guy saying the entire administration should be canned... to what next?
Each media source is trying to yell the loudest and garner more attention to themselves by being even more holy than the guy who spoke last.
It won't surprise me one bit if some newscaster hops on tv tonight and says that the Library Joe Paterno built should be burned down because of this.
Everyone has an opinion Cie. Yours is like mind over matter... I don't mind, because it don't matter.
You have a right to disagree. Do you know any facts supporting your strong opinion? Nevermind... don't even bother.

Great- That attorney sounds like a real gem too.
sandusky's attorney doesn't seem too bright.
He impregnated a 16 year old who was working at his firm. Sounds about right for the case.

I am talking about Joe Paterno with this.
Once again, based on the posts made replying to this it appears that the reading comprehension is minimal, and you are just banging the same drum the media has been by chanting over and over again about ass raping little boys.
No where in my post do I mention Sandusky, or the nature of sexual crimes. I talked about why Joe Paterno had a long, honorable life and outstanding reputation torn down to nothing when no one really knows with certainty what his role in this was.
People say - but it was Paterno's football program, the buck stops with him.
I say bullshit. If you're going to play that game, you need to go even higher than Joe because even he reports to people, and they report to people, and they report to people. You need to go ALL the way up the chain and start cutting throats. Instead, he's been the one to take the brunt of it and have his entire career tarnished and stained because people start piling on and banging the drum trying to outdo each other with their holyness.
I apologize for putting the orginal thought in the sandusky thread.

Paterno is the top of the chain in State College. You don't realize that? The outcry probably would not have been the same on a smaller campus where the coach is not such a figurehead. We can call it semantics and you can give me the rank and file but it's common knowledge that the buck stops with Joe Paterno in that entire area. The other reason for a lot of the backlash, IMO at least, is the complete irony in a guy who built his reputation on morals and doing what's right who did the complete opposite in this situation. Oh...wait, we don't know what happened, right? We do know he was informed to some degree that a sexual assault on a child took place. That is irrefutable. From that point on he shouldn't have been able to sleep until the matter was taken care of to the full extent of the law. We're not talking about what he's legally obligated to do but morally.
BTW....they did go higher up the chain....the AD and University President are both gone....both of whom are 1 and 2 steps upstream from Paterno. Did you forget that fact?
Aren't you from this area? You sound like a complete, delusional homer.
