Well, in the grand jury inditement, and the legal probes going on surrounding the situation with respect to Sandusky, they have said time, and time again - Joe Paterno is not a target of the investigation.
So I ask again, if Joe is not the target of criminal wrongdoing and they have no intent of finding, or pressing any charges against him for this - why is he having his life ripped apart?
Going back to the Duke Lacrosse incident - I wasn't hinting at guilt or innocence of the accused. I was hinting at how outrageous the media was in crucifying those young men and tearing them apart for days and days. and THEN the facts came out.
What were the facts stated in the Duke investigation grand jury?
Totally different, in this case that there are 23 pages documenting facts and yes Paterno knew what was going on from the facts unless McQuerry committed perjury in the grand jury.
It is naive to think a "God-like" figure like Paterno couldn't have done more. Sure, he may not go to jail and maybe legally, he shouldn't. However morally he FUCKED up.
Marine, I understand your argument, but the reason he is being fried is the fact everyone knows he was the ULTIMATE AUTHORITY at Penn St. To say he did enough legally, I get, but to have knowledge of despicable acts and not do a damn thing about it is inhumane. Thats why he is getting fried in the media.
perfect example from deadspin interview:
If he'd say that Paterno was more interested in protecting his own name and the brand of the program over doing what was right:
"There's no question, I wrote in my blog that when he had the opportunity to really demonstrate true integrity and character, he turned and protected himself. And that was his M.O. He used to turn and protect himself by turning to Rip; he was always protected. So instead of going out and helping an eight-year old kid or a ten-year old kid that was being sodomized by his key assistant, he just dropped the ball. And that's inexcusable. Inexcusable."
