also, has anyone else wondered why the families would even allow their children to stay overnight with a coach they didnt even know? i would never let my daughter stay with someone regardless of their position if i was not comfortable with the situation....

Reading that article you just posted... After reading THAT article, if anyone says that Paterno knew exactly what was going on and was part of the cover up... i would challenge their reading comprehension and suggest they go back to grade school to learn how to understand what you read.

Paterno knew about it. He sent it up the chain of command and washed his hands of it in his own mind. He also knew nothing was done about it. This made him part of the coverup and led to more kids being abused which is sickening. You cannot defend his non-action against the fact that more kids were violated because of it. Disgusting.

I'm no Joe Paterno fan (God, I hate opening a letter like that), but I think he's become a victim of being Joe Paterno. I'm sure every head coach could tell stories about ass't or other people in their programs ethical and criminal activities, but just don't want to be the college's "police". I mean look at Boeheim. How was this guy around Fine for 40 years and he didn't have a clue about him. He was so much ignorant of it, he defended him and called the two original accusers liars. So I'm clear on this and understand your POV on this..

You run a dentistry practice right?

Allow me to throw this scenario to you - You go on vacation for a week and leave your one of your assistants to run the office while you are away, or have another dentist fill in for you while you are gone. While you are gone, one of your employees decides that since you aren't there, they can try to get away with a few things. You come back from your vacation and find out that they were verbally abusive, and explicitly discrimanatory to sex/race/religion of a patient that stopped by.
You're closing down your office and never practicing dentistry again, right?
