I didn't bring Bush in he brought himself in. Do I hate him? Yes I do. But that has nothing to do with the fact that this case has been to court 24 times and 21 different judges have heard the case. Now, either the people who are trying to keep her breathing have the worst lawyers in the history of the world or the husband has managed to bribe the entire legal and medical communities of Florida because 24 out of 24 times they said to pull the tube.
Now we have all kinds of hear say against a guy who has suffered watching his wife like that year after year. I don't know anything about the guy and neither do you. I chose to rely on the outcome of 24 out of court cases.

As for Lanie Davis and what he thinks who cares. The laws of Florida, just like the law of Texas that Bush signed, says an agreement between the spouse and doctors is what matters. Sad as it is first it is the spouse, then any adult children, then the parents. I understand the parents do not want this to end but the doctors in Florida who have seen her for 15 years say she has already gone.

don`t tell me that this guy schiavo is going through all this to uphold his "wife`s" wishes.....you`d have to be a moron to believe that....

you hear me,stevie????

his hatred for her and her family is stultifying....

as much as i dislike o`reilly,he came up with the perfect answer....

for mr sciavo to just relent...he tried to do what he claims she wanted...now,he can end all this and just let the woman`s parents assume all resposibility for her....

no sweat off his ass....he can just disappear...go on with his life...

he`d be a hero...it would end this horrible mess...he shows compassion....the greater good would be done.....after all,if his experts are correct, she doesn`t know who or what she is...she feels nothing...even starvation....

right tussking?...dying from dehydration over 2 weeks is a piece of cake...no problem for terry schiavo...

but,for some reason,he won`t...either his hatred for the family is so intense...that he`s so vindictive, that he`ll ruin his own life to see this woman die..

why is he fighting so hard?......because he`s a saint?....lol...the same saint that has 2 children by another woman in the interim?....the same saint that never mentioned that she wanted no measures taken to save her until 7 years after the fact...

.because, for many people in this country,he`s the new o.j....right or wrong...

nobody knows for sure what the woman`s wishes were....there is testimony from her friends that mr. schiavo told them that she "never"stated to him that she didn`t want to be fed or stopped from dying...

his side testifies to the contrary...there is no written documentation....heresay...

i repeat...there is no documentation....

i guess mr schiavo`s book will follow...does he actually have the balls?.....

my guess is that this vindictive prick absolutely does...

btw...i agree with tussking that brining randall terry in was a mistake of the highest order...it just inflamed the debate,if that`s possible....isn`t this guy suspected of aiding and abetting the murder of obstetricians?....

and i understand that they botched the appeal by citing religious reasons for the last appeal.....instead of emphasizing the denovo aspect of the appeal....to look at the case and the issue of mr schiavo`s claim "with new eyes"......which the appeals court apparently didn`t take the time to do.....

this is the best that all the religious right`s money can buy?.......

sheesh....

stevie,

i don't care what lannie davis thinks either......but he is the first person that i heard on t.v. that openly questioned the husband's motives.

and to me that is the heart of the problem.....the motives of the husband.....which imo are not in the best interests of terri's.

I HAVE ONE QUESTION HERE : WHO MADE ANY ONE OF YOU GOD ? IF THIS WAS HER WISH AND ONLY HER HUSBAND KNOWS THIS THEN LEAVE IT ALONE. NO ONE HERE HAS RIGHT TO SAY ITS WRONG. HAVE U WALKED IN MICHAEL SCHIAVOS SHOES ? EXACTLY. IF THE MAN DID NOT GIVE A FUC THEN WHY DID HE NOT JUST DIVORCE HER AFTER THE FIRST 7 YEARS AND SPENDING A MILLIONS DOLLARS TO GET HER BETTER. HE IS A REAL MAN THAT IS SEEING HIS ALMOST DEAD WIFE WISHES CARRIED OUT. SCREW THE PARENTS AND THE BS THEY CREATED.

It is funny how the press has turned the husband into the villan in this case. My question is that if this guy is so bad, and he might be I do not know, why wasn't this ever brought out before in 24 court cases. I guess many of you have no faith in our judicial system so I assume you must be against the death penalty because you think they botched up this case 24 times and it would be best to err on the side of life. I happen to favor the death penalty in certain cases but I have some faith in our system.

Tussking..who said it was her wish??? Oh yeah...the so called husband. So your going to take his word for it when he didnt make any mention of it during the first 7 years and then he says something after he already has a girlfriend?

That right there should tell you something about his character.

I have never walked in his shoes or even had to come close but the marriage vows are till death do us part..not "till you become to much of a burden to me, the settlement money is running out, and I have a chance to speed up your death so I can finally marry my girlfriend who I have been having an affair with".

This guy is a total piece of worthless shit. He found someone else so he should just move on with his life.

the media bias in this case is amazing....peter jennings and his ilk saying congress "interfered",then quickly correcting to "intervened"....

and using terms like "life support" in bogus polls worded to obtain the desired response....when that`s clearly not the case....alzheimers patients need to be fed....should they be put down?...

i see why this is...because it is seen as the "religious right" fighting for terry....and the liberal media hates the religious right....not crazy about them myself....i still think this thing stinks to high heaven...

tussking...wake up out of your coma...or somebody might deny you food and water....there is no documentation as to the woman`s wishes..and there was conflicting testimony as to the woman`s true feelings....it`s all heresay....and many feel that the husband no longer has the "wife`s" best intentions in mind...he`s a flawed character whose intentions are clearly questionnable...

what grates me is that the courts tend to be extremely cautious with convicted murderers....but don`t give a handicapped woman the benefit of the doubt....

""""""Steven Staley is scheduled to be executed March 23, 2005 for the1989 murder of Robert Read in Tarrant County. Read was the restaurant manager at a Steak and Ale restaurant which Staley and his co-defendants attempted to rob. Read was shot as Staley and others attempted to flee from police.

Ten days after Staley was released from prison for a another conviction, the Department of Corrections warned Staley was "an extrmely poor parole risk" and would need mental - health treatment, alcohol and drug treatment, and close supervision. However, Staley was relased from prison to a halfway house.

While at the center he violated many rules and was often missing. The night before Staley escaped from the Center and immidiately before he committed the crime, he reportedly told the center he needed to be returned to prison because he knew he was violent.

Staley was born on July 30, 1962 and was 27 years old at the time of the offense and 29 years old when he was sent to death row where he has spent 14 years.

Staley’s co-defendants, who made plea agreements with prosecutors, received a 30-year sentence and three consecutive life sentences, respectively.

Staley was initially scheduled for execution on March 18, 1999, but received a stay."""""

his execution was just stayed again because it was decided that some judges instructions to the jury were technically flawed....

look in the paper...you see this stuff everyday....

now,it appears the saint mr. schiavo will block any attempts at an autopsy....

i wonder why?...it wouldn`t be painful...and might put some vicious rumors to rest...

she`s in no pain...not like a terminally ill cancer patient....who it could be argued that it would be humane to end their suffering....

i now do believe this is political....it`s the radically religious vs the secular elite.....i dislike them both....more the latter...

with this poor woman caught in the crossfire....with her monster of a "husband" ..her estranged,re-attached husband that has a new family....

and there are many experts that disagree that she`s brain dead...the most recent a neurologist, william cheshire from the mayo clinic...who examined her for an hour 3 weeks ago...

the doctor that examined her for the court was a regular speaker at the "hemlock society" and an advocate for "the right to die" crowd.....who i don`t necessarily disagree with.....i agree with the right to die for terminally ill patients in constant pain...that`s humane......it`s just that the guy may have an agenda.....his career indicates that he may...

god forbid any of our children marry such a man and be put in these circumstances...

and be at the mercy of our ridiculously flawed judicial system...

It's a fact that he testified at his malpractice suit that he wanted the dough for her lifetime care. No mention whatsoever about her 'wishes' until after the settlement.

Stevie, all the stuff about him *has* been brought up in most of those cases. In large part, that's why it's been 15 years and he's just now going to get his wish. While I also have some degree of faith in our judicial system, the judgments basically affirmed one thing and that's that Michael is, in fact, her guardian.

So yes, it's the letter of the law and has been affirmed many times. Also, it is ridiculous how all of a sudden Delay & Co. took such an interest. It was also a mistake to paint this with a religious brush, as it really has nothing to do with that.

That said, there has to be some leeway for common sense. There is no hard evidence that this is what she would want. Her parents have said he's off the hook if he just fades away. Starvation is cruel and inhumane. While sure, none of us know him, each and every indication is that he is not doing this for her.

Below is an affidavit from one of Terri's nurses. I really don't think she has any reason to lie.

AFFIDAVIT
STATE OF FLORIDA )
COUNTY OF PINELLAS )
BEFORE ME the undersigned authority personally appeared CARLA SAUER IYER, R.N., who being first duly sworn, deposes and says:
1. My name is Carla Sauer Iyer. I am over the age of eighteen and make this statement of my own personal knowledge.

2. I am a registered nurse in the State of Florida, having been licensed continuously in Florida from 1997 to the present. Prior to that I was a Licensed Practical Nurse for about four years.

3. I was employed at Palm Garden of Largo Convalescent Center in Largo, Florida from April of 1995 to July 1996, while Terri Schiavo was a patient there.

4. It was clear to me at Palm Gardens that all decisions regarding Terri Schiavo were made by Michael Schiavo, with no allowance made for any discussion, debate or normal professional judgment. My initial training there consisted solely of the instruction "Do what Michael Schiavo tells you or you will be terminated." This struck me as extremely odd.

5. I was very disturbed by the decision making protocol, as no allowance whatsoever was made for professional responsibility. The atmosphere throughout the facility was dominated by Mr. Schiavo's intimidation. Everyone there, with the exception of several people who seemed to be close to Michael, was intimidated by him. Michael Schiavo always had an overbearing attitude, yelling numerous times such things as "This is my order and you're going to follow it." He is very large and uses menacing body language, such as standing too close to you, getting right in your face and practically shouting.

6. To the best of my recollection, rehabilitation had been ordered for Terri, but I never saw any being done or had any reason at all to believe that there was ever any rehab of Terri done at Palm Gardens while I was there. I became concerned because nothing was being done for Terri at all, no antibiotics, no tests, no range of motion therapy, no stimulation, no nothing. Michael said again and again that Terri should NOT get any rehab, that there should be no range of motion whatsoever, or anything else. I and a CNA named Roxy would give Terri range of motion anyway. One time I put a wash cloth in Terri's hand to keep her fingers from curling together, and Michael saw it and made me take it out, saying that was therapy.

7. Terri's medical condition was systematically distorted and misrepresented. When I worked with her, she was alert and oriented. Terri spoke on a regular basis while in my presence, saying such things as "mommy," and "help me." "Help me" was, in fact, one of her most frequent utterances. I heard her say it hundreds of times. Terri would try to say the word "pain" when she was in discomfort, but it came out more like "pay." She didn't say the "n" sound very well. During her menses she would indicate her discomfort by saying "pay" and moving her arms toward her lower abdominal area. Other ways that she would indicate that she was in pain included pursing her lips, grimacing, thrashing in bed, curling her toes or moving her legs around. She would let you know when she had a bowel movement by flipping up the covers and pulling on her diaper.

8. When I came into her room and said "Hi, Terri", she would always recognize my voice and her name, and would turn her head all the way toward me, saying "Haaaiiiii" sort of, as she did. I recognized this as a "hi", which is very close to what it sounded like, the whole sound being only a second or two long. When I told her humorous stories about my life or something I read in the paper, Terri would chuckle, sometimes more a giggle or laugh. She would move her whole body, upper and lower. Her legs would sometimes be off the bed, and need to be repositioned. I made numerous entries into the nursing notes in her chart, stating verbatim what she said and her various behaviors, but by my next on-duty shift, the notes would be deleted from her chart. Every time I made a positive entry about any responsiveness of Terri's, someone would remove it after my shift ended. Michael always demanded to see her chart as soon as he arrived, and would take it in her room with him. I documented Terri's rehab potential well, writing whole pages about Terri's responsiveness, but they would always be deleted by the next time I saw her chart. The reason I wrote so much was that everybody else seemed to be afraid to make positive entries for fear of their jobs, but I felt very strongly that a nurses job was to accurately record everything we see and hear that bears on a patients condition and their family. I upheld the Nurses Practice Act, and if it cost me my job, I was willing to accept that.

9. Throughout my time at Palm Gardens, Michael Schiavo was focused on Terri's death. Michael would say "When is she going to die?," "Has she died yet?" and "When is that ***** gonna die?" These statements were common knowledge at Palm Gardens, as he would make them casually in passing, without regard even for who he was talking to, as long as it was a staff member. Other statements which I recall him making include "Can't you do anything to accelerate her death - won't she ever die?" When she wouldn't die, Michael would be furious. Michael was also adamant that the family should not be given information. He made numerous statements such as "Make sure the parents aren't contacted." I recorded Michael's statements word for word in Terri's chart, but these entries were also deleted after the end of my shift. Standing orders were that the family wasn't to be contacted, in fact, there was a large sign in the front of her chart that said under no circumstances was her family to be called, call Michael immediately, but I would call them, anyway, because I thought they should know about their daughter.

10. Any time Terri would be sick, like with a UTI or fluid buildup in her lungs, colds, pneumonia, Michael would be visibly excited, thrilled even, hoping that she would die. He would call me, as I was the nurse supervisor on the floor, and ask for every little detail about her temperature, blood pressure, etc., and would call back frequently asking if she was dead yet. He would blurt out "I'm going to be rich!," and would talk about all the things he would buy when Terri died, which included a new car, a new boat, and going to Europe, among other things.

11. When Michael visited Terri, he always came alone and always had the door closed and locked while he was with Terri. He would typically be there about twenty minutes or so. When he left Terri would would be trembling, crying hysterically, and would be very pale and have cold sweats. It looked to me like Terri was having a hypoglycemic reaction, so I'd check her blood
sugar. The glucometer reading would be so low it was below the range where it would register an actual number reading. I would put dextrose in Terri's mouth to counteract it. This happened about five times on my shift as I recall. Normally Terri's blood sugar levels were very stable due to the uniformity of her diet through tube feeding. It is my belief that Michael injected Terri with Regular insulin, which is very fast acting.

12. The longer I was employed at Palm Gardens the more concerned I became about patient care, both relating to Terri Schiavo, for the reasons I've said, and other patients, too. There was an LPN named Carolyn Adams, known as "Andy" Adams who was a particular concern. An unusual number of patients seemed to die on her shift, but she was completely unconcerned, making statements such as "They are old - let them die." I couldn't believe her attitude or the fact that it didn't seem to attract any attention. She made many comments about Terri being a waste of money, that she should die. She
said it was costing Michael a lot of money to keep her alive, and that he complained about it constantly (I heard him complain about it all the time, too.) Both Michael and Adams said that she would be worth more to him if she were dead. I ultimately called the police relative to this situation, and was terminated the next day. Other reasons were cited, but I was convinced it was because of my "rocking the boat."

13. Ms. Adams was one of the people who did not seem to be intimidated by Michael. In fact, they seemed to be very close, and Adams would do whatever Michael told her. Michael sometimes called Adams at night and spoke at length. I was not able to hear the content of these phone calls, but I knew it was him talking to her because she would tell me afterward and relay orders from him.

14. While at Palm Gardens, I became fearful for my personal safety. This was due to Michael's constant intimidation, including his menacing body language, vocal tone and mannerisms.

15. I have contacted the Schindler family because I just couldn't stand by and let Terri die without the truth being known.
FURTHER AFFIANT SAYETH NAUGHT.

You liberals "centrists" :mj07: are a demented crapula of murderous scum.

This coming from someone not of the "Religious Christian Right".

You make me sick, but, hey, there are worse things happening in the world, right? There are child murderers on death row awaiting appeals, fags waiting to get married, terrorists waiting for inept judges to free them..... 7 month old fetuses waiting to be killed with a hammer in the back of the cranium!

I don't doubt anymore that Terrie Schindler wants to die, not because it was her wish, but because she's sick and tired of being abused by her ex-husband and the communist and outrageously biased legal system. May she Rest In Peace.

Here is the scoop on your Florida Nurologist:

So much for Jeb's independent expert.

In his last-ditch, desperation attempt to save Terri Schiavo, Florida governor Jeb Bush is relying upon the medical opinion of a Jacksonville neurologist who once published a poem that bitterly attacks the "right-to-die" and doctor-assisted suicide, concluding that "the one firm reference point of truth" is "the cross of Jesus Christ the Lord."

Dr. William P. Cheshire's poem, entitled "Exit Ramp," appeared in the summer 2001 issue of a magazine called Ethics & Medicine, and is available online. It was called to Attytood's attention by our Daily News colleague, ace reporter Chris Brennan, and it is quite a catch.

The notion of a right to die
In reason finds approval nil,
From such a harsh judicial lie
Would obligate doctors to kill.

And later:

As ethical constraints give way,
Down go the lowly euthanists.
Headlong they plunge, their morals stray
Into a bleak, black, deep abyss ?

Cheshire, an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, lashes out in the poem at Dr. Jack Kevorkian and the Durch practice of euthansia, calling it "a terrible mistake/Against which now we must decide."

Yesterday, after consulting with Cheshire, Jeb Bush called an afternoon news conference and launched another, last-ditch effort to save the brain-damaged Schiavo. ''Terri may have been misdiagnosed and is more likely she is in a state of minimal consciousness rather that in a persistent vegetative state,'' he said.

Cheshire gave Bush the optimistic diagnosis without having fully examined her:

[Cheshire] concluded that Schiavo may not be in a permanent vegetative state, as determined by many other doctors, but instead may be in a state of ``minimal consciousness.''

''This new information raises serious concerns warrants immediate attention . . .,'' the governor said. ``It is imperative that she be stablized so that the adult protective services team can fulfill their statutory duty and review all the facts surrounding the case. If there is any uncertainty, we should err on the side of protecting her.''

Other state officials said that Cheshire ''made personal observations'' of Schiavo at an undisclosed time in the past. He stood at her bedside observing her for less than an hour and, two days ago, watched two of the six videotapes in the court's possession, they said.

But apparently, the Florida governor (and president's brother) didn't disclose Cheshire's past right-to-die writings.

But now state officials are considering several possible ways to intervene in the Schiavo case and get the feeding tube reinserted. Bush may use a state law that allows the state to take a vulnerable adult into immediate custody if there is a demonstrated need for protection. Also, the Florida state social services agency is weighing whether to investigate the removal of the feeding tube as an abuse case.

But Cheshire seemed to have strong opinions about cases like Schiavo's long before he was called into this case. In "Exit Ramp," he wrote:

Authority once granted makes
The next step that much easier still.
Removal of restrictions takes
Us further down a murderous hill.

Also, how is that you guys all know that the husband is a cad? Wouldn't be that "Libera Press" giving you that information would it?

o.k.,stevie...one expert believes in life...the other is a regular at the hemlock society.....

what does that prove?...

what is the fascination with killing this woman that isn`t terminally ill?.....

why not kill all alzheimer`s patients that can`t feed themselves?

with stevie,we know it`s a g.w. bush fetish....

it`s a political/secularist/religious game....that is being played with a woman`s life....

what does terri schiavo's life symbolize to them? what does the idea that she might continue to live suggest to them?

why does the prospect of this woman`s survival unnerve them?

why can`t the parents just assume responsibility?

do you really think the husband loves her so much that he`d go through all this to see her wishes observed?....

i don`t belive that for a second...only a moron would..

it`s pathetic
