No, I do not think USC would've even scored on that viscious AU defense! :poke

But I agree with your reasoning on your wager on USC. If you felt like USC was the better team, then why hedge the same amount on Oklahoma when you can collect big cashout on USC. Same principle applies to Spurs here. Good luck to us cashing in on them.

Spurs up 2-0 in series. History tells me Spurs have a 95% chance at winning the series. So thats good news! I thought Spurs would be up 2-0 at this point but did not think it would be so easy. I have no idea how Detroit will respond at home but you think Spurs can win at least 1 game on road there. Especially how inconsistent Detroit is. If Detroit wins the series, you think it be in 7 games. On top of that, Spurs have game 6 at home so they can force a game 7. Last time Pistons beat Spurs at SA was in 1997 and this year no Eastern conf. opponent won at @SA.

I decided to hedge this series at this point and time. I am very confident Spurs win series but there is one thing bugging me.

Pistons won the NBA Championship last year. EVERY opponent they faced in the playoffs had a star player miss series and/or getting severely injured. All the way through the finals. So how good is this Pistons team? Can they beat a healthy opponent? Well Spurs are not 100% healthy with Duncans 2 ankles and Devin Brown not in rotation anymore. But Spurs are somewhat healthy. But this year Pistons played and beat Indiana and Miami. 2 teams who had star players miss games and 2 teams with severly injured players playing. Will Pistons luck out once again and win another championship because star players missing games or getting severely injured? I can't take that risk. So I am hedging on Pistons.

$498 on Pistons to win in an exactly 7 games. +920. (pinny)

$498 to win $4,581 Pistons winning in exactly 7 games.

Total Spurs bet:

$8,250 to win $14,570

Total Pistons bet:

$2,072 to win $10,777
$498 to win $4,581

Spurs win it all +$12,000 (profit)

Pistons win it in 7 games + $7,108 (profit)
Pistons win it in 6 games + $2,029 (profit)

Scott..........will you hedge any more now that series is 2-2 ??

Series is definitely getting interesting but if Detroit wins game 5......then game 6 becomes a difference of possibly $10,000 for you.

Still sitting in pretty good position though........

Right now I give Spurs a 20% chance to win game 5 based on what I have seen in this series and way its been officiated. But I give Spurs 80% to win game 6 and 80% game 7. Spurs are a completely different team at home and it is extremely difficult to close a team out on road! Especially a team like the Spurs!

If Spurs play like Spurs, then I think Spurs have 45% winning game 5. But I have no idea how Spurs play game 5. I think there is decent chance Pistons struggle because they can't seem to play 3 great games in row and they seem to only play excellent with backs against wall. Backs are not really against wall but some may argue game 5 is must win as well for Pistons. Certainly Pistons need game 5 more than Spurs. Charles Barkley always says series doesn't start until a team wins on road.

Spurs should give best effort and be focused. Otherwise I will be disappointed. There goal was to win 1 game so game 5 is it. Maybe they saved there best stuff and wanted to carry that momentum into game 6 at home vs winning game 3 and losing games 4/5. But why the hell would a team in finals think this way? So they prob. aren't but NBA is a business. Who knows. Ginobili certainly hasn't been himself. Maybe because of injury (likely) or maybe he is saving energy for games 5, 6 and 7. He plays balls out and I don't think you can do that every game. What do I know.

I am going to roll the dice because I make 7k or 12k guaranteed profit if series goes 7 games. I make 2k profit if Pistons win in 6 so that is nice consolation prize. I don't see Spurs losing game 6 at home. (at least I hope so) I always put my money where my mouth is. Although I took Pistons to win in 7 based on their fortunate luck and 9-1 was superb value.

If Miami was playing Spurs and Spurs tied 2-2 I might be $hitting bricks because I be already out $$ on Pistons loss and I have zero $$ on Miami.

Before series started, I thought Spurs would sweep 2 at home, lose game 3 big, win either game 4 or 5 in close games, and close out series in 6. I thought Pistons best chance at beating spurs in SA was game 1 and they blew it after leading big 1q. I thought there would be 4 close games in this series and difference maker being Pistons scoring droughts. These blowouts are quite boring.

Looks like taking Pistons at 9-1 to win it in 7 games paid off. Although it wasn't easy! ;) Now I do not have to sweat it out so much but still need Spurs to take it all the way! Pistons are a nice consolation prize!

Spurs win it all +$12,000 (profit)

Pistons win it in 7 games + $7,108 (profit)

No complaints, my life couldn't be better at the moment. Thanks for your concern!

If you do not like what is being posted in "my" thread, you have the option to read the other 49 threads in the NBA forum. You also have the option to put me on ignore list. Another option is post your own winning thread and you can choose whether or not to update it. FYI, my thread turned out to be a guaranteed money maker so hopefully it was not only me who benefited. This forum is meant for posting winners and that is exactly what I accomplished. Whether or not you like me updating it is your problem. Hope you have success as well. Good luck handicapping the rest of the way.

Scott, might as well go with a full hedge the final three grand at +190 don't you think? Flip a coin for game 7. . . Detroit proved they could beat the Spurs on the road so its anybodys game on Thursday.

That would be the smart thing to do but I predict a double digit Spurs win on Thur. I am backing up my confidence and keeping the 5k difference on Spurs! I am not all talk. But that is good advice and thanks for sharing it with me. I respect your opinion.

You definitely can't go wrong when you have more money riding on the team that's favored to win the game and at home for game seven. Best of luck Scott. . . I'm rooting for the Pistons because they're the underdog but if the Spurs win then I'll be happy for you

2005 NBA Champions, SA SPURS!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to the Detroit Pistons on great season. This was not easy for Spurs and Spurs know they had to earn this championship. Pistons played hard and defended their title with honor. I never expected this series to be this difficult for Spurs. Props to Pistons and all Spurs/Pistons fans can be proud of their teams. Both play hard and these last 3 games have been a beauty to watch.

This has been one hell of a night. Forgot to mention something else. I won the BETROYAL contest with my Dad. Deposit $250 and predict the finals outcome and we had Spurs in 7 over Pistons. Contest value was $20,000 and there were 14 winners. Our name is leslie s. I wanted Spurs in 6 but my Dad and I finally agreed to Spurs in 7 because we figured less people had that.

$$$ WINNER $$$

+ $1,300!!!!
