Against my better judgement...

Hedgehog, do you think that all blacks are alike? Are they all the same "folks?" Where do the blacks live, in all of our areas of America? Who are these blacks that you speak of?

I'll stop there, for now. Any answers would be enlightening...I guess.

no, not all blacks are not alike, just like not all whites are alike there is trash of every race. The blacks tend to stick together, name me one black that did not vote for Obama? Most blacks voted for him just because he is 1/2 black, no other reason.

Again, do you have any length of time that you think would qualify as enough to determine if a person is a terrorist? Or if they have done anything worthy of being held?

Do you honestly consider say, seven years, as any kind of "temporary?"

I have concern, too. I have no problem with extreme measures being taken against determined terrorists. Prudent, necessary, encouraged, even, from my perspective. But that's not what we're talking about here, in many cases. Again, what if they were Americans being held in another country? Would that be ok? Or what about for Americans that might be captured in the future? By any country? This sets a precedent that might be hard to justify against in the future, for OUR country.

I know you avoided my question, I understand why. It's understandable avoidance, when taking that position.

Chad I don't know the reason those held for 7 years or there--however I doubt they have been there that long waiting for a speedy trial. I do know they have 60 there ok'd for release but no country will take them--I doubt we would refuse to take back our captured prisoners--
--in times of war both sides keep prisoners till war is over--the war on terror is NOT conventional war. I believe most of our captured soilders have been killed --maybe you could shed some light on those being held somewhere????
So your using point about situation that does not exist.

I can certainly agree with those who's mantra is-
Most muslims are not terrorist--
--and would give them my ambassador of good will award.
--but they forget- Most terrorist are Muslims
--and therefore would not qualify for my team on security--

on waterboarding--I personally believe it to be one of few humane ways obtaining info. When you have reporters volunteer to see whats its like you know effects are quite temporary. I am sure if our captured military were given opp of choosing technique to to used on them they would certainly opt for this method over those causing permanant damage--ie broken bones-permanant mental damage or chopped head.

I would think you'd have more than that to say after his todays agenda--

figured you and your liberal co-harts would be
:00hour along with the terrorist ?

President Barack Obama is expected to sign "several" executive orders on Thursday directing the Central Intelligence Agency to close its network of "black sites," or secret foreign prisons, and order the closing of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp within a year.

The executive orders, aimed at rolling back much of former President Bush's architecture for the war on terror, involve "altering CIA detention and interrogation rules, limiting interrogation standards
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
--you might even consider in getting with your fellow liberals/pinkies and devise a :hah: type letter to forward to 911 families and our troops in celebration of your new found hope and change for terrorists--and don't forget to include your address and a "yes we can" signature next to your name. :)

It is true that we are still safe. But seeing as where 9-11 took place in September of Bush's first term and DTB removes any blame to Bush and says it was planned during Clinton's term, my question to DTB and the other neocon nitwits in what month does the blame shift from Bush to Obama?

Most of them began blaming Obama for stuff months ago. The windows don't open and close evenly.

This would be one of the guys I would be talking about, I suppose...

Freed Gitmo prisoner sues U.S. for unlawful detention
Posted: 09:17 AM ET
From Reza Sayah
CNN
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) ? Muhammad Saad Iqbal is a free man after
serving more than six years at the U.S. military?s detention facility in
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba ? without any charge.

Now, Iqbal is suing the U.S. government for unlawful detention.

?I am angry in my heart,? Iqbal said in a recent interview. ?It?s easy
for the U.S. government to say, ?There are no charges found and he?s free.?
?But who will be responsible for seven years of my life??

His attorney in Washington, D.C., is suing the U.S. government, on behalf
of Iqbal, through the federal court system.

It is not the first lawsuit brought against the U.S. government by a
former Guantanamo detainee. But it comes as President Barack Obama takes
office, promising to shut down the detention facility, possibly within a year.

That could lead to an increase in the number of lawsuits brought by
former detainees who ? like Iqbal ? say they were held for no reason.
The Pakistani citizen was taken into U.S. custody in January 2002 while
visiting family in Indonesia. He was reportedly arrested after talking about
making a shoe bomb, something he denies.

?I never (made) that statement,? Iqbal said. ?But they have (said) a lot
of things, like I went to Afghanistan, but they have no proof.?

Actually an interesting take on this, Scott. Taxpayers will in fact have to pay for this, and it's due to these people being held by the Bush administration. And of course the apologists will blame the lawyer lobby for the scenario.

Again, I have to ask, how can you justify keeping a person against his will for six years, without producing any evidence to show why he is being kept?

Chad

lets just face facts.

the people that were held so long were caught in very compromizing situations that put the al quaida tag on them.

There was no way Bush was going to let them go and have a chance to go back to their terrorist ways.

it may not be right , but Bush decided he just didnt want to catch them twice.

In all honesty, I posted a long time ago that I would have rounded up all the prisiners in Guantanamo and put them in a huge aircraft, flown them over the middle of the ocean and shoved everyone of the fawkers out the back.

But thats just me.

4 years of misery ahead, only 1459 days left until the Obama administration moves out of the White House, if the first 2 days are any indication it is going to be a very long 4 years

naw it will go quickly and with much fanfare.

Can you imagine all the money the US will save by shutting this shit down, and the other secret ones we have all over the world. It will save millions

good decision there. No more spending out the asshole. Bush and Cheney did that for us 8 yrs long
then took most of the money with them

sure is nice to have Obama in the drivers seat protecting America.

Feels much safer to me.

where do you think the annointed one will take the terrorists? To get lawyers to try them like citizens of the US:shrug: I wonder why we have not been hit by another 9/11, lets think maybe the info we were getting from them, waterboard all the mofo's until they tell you more info about where we can find Osama, etc...fuckt he terrorists or kill them all and let GOD sort it out...Raising taxes and making it easier for partial birth murder, thanks Obama, oh yeah I really feel safe with terrorists coming to my country, If I hear another hoax commercial about global warming I am going to throw up, ugh...just about what I thought when he beat McLame
