Rasmussen: Obama strong disapproval rises; Update: Zogby shows Obama at 48%

Rasmussen has its first tracking poll taken with numbers entirely generated from after Barack Obama?s trainwreck press conference, and to no one?s surprise, his numbers have continued to decline. While his overall job approval remained constant at 49%, those who strongly disapprove of Obama?s performance increased again to 40%, while those who strongly approve retreated to 29%. The strongly-disapprove number has increased five points since the press conference, and the illusion of moderate, post-partisan leadership has been stripped:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 29% of the nation?s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11. That?s the first time his ratings have reached double digits in negative territory ?
These updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. Today is the first update based entirely upon interviews conducted after the President?s prime time televised press conference. The number who Strongly Approve of the President has remained unchanged since the press conference but the number who Strongly Disapprove has gone up by five percentage points (from 35% on Wednesday morning to 40% today). ?
The President is now seen as politically liberal by 76%. That?s up six points from a month ago, 11 points since he was elected, and the highest total to date. Forty-eight percent (48%) now see him as Very Liberal, up 20 points since he was elected.
Tax-and-spend programs will do that. Ever since Barack Obama arrived in Washington, he?s gone on a Blame America tour abroad and spent money (or at least tried to spend money) at an astonishing rate not seen in decades-

Yeah, I agree that the most likely scenario is that Prof. Gates became defensive about being questioned in his own home, which Sgt. Crowley interpreted as being uncooperative and it escalated from there. I think both men could have handled it better. I hope someone leaks the audio tape so we can get a definitive answer.

Here's result on 911 call

1 hr 11 mins ago
BOSTON ? The 911 caller who reported a possible break-in at the home of black Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr. did not mention race in the call, according to a statement issued by her attorney and backed up by Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas.
Lucia Whalen placed the 911 call July 16, saying she saw two men on Gates' front porch who appeared to be trying to force open the front door. The call led to the arrest of Gates by Cambridge police on a disorderly conduct charge, and the resulting national firestorm.

Looks likes the lessons that O and gates said this would teach us --aren't exactly what they had hoped for. :)

Bottom line : What is so hard to figure out ? If we are going to be honest, race plays a part in everyday life in America... If this police officer was the expert that he thinks he is because of the classes he taught in racial profiling, he should know that (SOME) Black men of the age group of Gates have for good historic reasons a problem with the police.... #1 : Obama said he didn't have the facts, he should have not said what he did... Obama was wrong, he should apologize.... #2 : Gates overreacted but once the officer knew that it was his home he should have said something like this: Sr, I was trying to do my job... we received a call and that is why I am here.. Gates was in his home.. who was being hurt, but the ego of the officer ? This officer, if he is as good as reported, should have a bit thicker skin... Let the crazy old guy have his say and get out of his house..... If you are in law enforcement, you come in contact with all kinds of people with all kinds of issues... You get paid to diffuse situations , not escalate. ... lets just say for the sake of argument Gates is an asshole... the biggest asshole.....Arresting him was a waste of time. The Guy with the gun and badge should be the bigger person... If you can't take the heat, get a different job... This cop is not who he thinks he is, not who his supporters think he is.....THAT'S THE PROBLEM !!!!!!!! Might be a nice guy...Wrong temperament, not SKILLED/SMART enough for the job... what ever he's teaching in those classes is worthless... THAT'S THE REAL STORY !!!!!`~~`

For what it is worth my father-in-law is 82, an ex-cop, staunch republican. I was expecting him to side with the cop but he said the cop should of walked away once he saw the id.

Kind of surprising to me.

IS HE BLACK OR WHITE OR A MIX

He is white.

Of couse he is going by just what he has heard. Non of us know the whole story.

He said it happens a lot. If the guy is not a threat to himself or anyone else there is no real reason to bring him in.

IS HE BLACK OR WHITE OR A MIX

does it matter if he's black or white ? does he have the right temperament/intellect to make the right decisions ? that should be the question.... this thread is proof of why we are were we are as a people... I'm not the smartest guy on my block but we are where we are in America because we are not smart enough. We have to many people in positions that shouldn't be.

BOTTOMLINE: OBAMA WAS WRONG, THE COP WAS WRONG... THE ANGRY BLACK GUY WAS WRONG.... who's man enough to admit they were wrong ? None of these people have displayed any leadership skills in this incident.

i like cops, as much as anyone... my mom has been married to one for 30 yrs.. some of my friends are cops... some times the race card is overplayed but not all the time... race is a big part of who we are as a people... we have to learn how to deal with it....
