Been following the case of black Harvard professor who was arrested--and can't believe O went on national tv and called officer stupid.

I believe from what I read in report this professor is of the rev wright character.

This is far from over :)

Several links--

What did you read that leads you to that assumption?

I mean since you must have been reading since what yesterday, so you are already enough of an expert to label him a Rev Wright type.

So Cal
BO said that something isn't right about this. So much for bringing us all together.

Shawn Read reports several days ago. Have several link at office I'll put up tomorrow.

Basically lady called when she saw 2 black men forcing door open--from time officers arrived Gates get on officers ass about harrasing him because he was black--even refused at 1st to give officer ID. After confirming ID appears officers were ready to leave and Gates wrent outside yelling his racists rants in front of crowds --

Read police report--you'll get the gist of it.

Unless there is some video nobody knows what happen. Well except a racist like DTB. Im sure he will have trouble siding with the Harvard professor. Oh sorry i meant to say the black Harvard professor. With the neo con thinkers im not sure what pisses them off more. Being from Harvard and educated or being black.

Exactly reports. Alot of them conflicting.

I have no idea what happened there.

In my opinion both are lying about parts of it.

I have no idea who is in the wrong over this situation. I think it was wrong for Obama to comment on this and I thing it is wrong for you to immediately compare him to rev Wright.

I saw one person interviewed on tv who said he saw him coming out in handcuffs upset.

Well if I was pulled out of my hands in handcuffs I be pretty pissed too, as I imagine anyone would.

He also went on to say he heard nothing so he wasnt sure about what he was saying.

But its a hell of alot lazier and easier to just compare him to Rev Wright because he is a black man and accusing someone of racism. Lets see black and accusing someone of racism must be a nutjob huh.

And at least Obama knew Gates personally and considered him a friend.

Well there you go DTB he is black and a friend of Obama has to be a nut.

So Cal
Actually BO said the police acted "stupidly" (his words). Then he later went on to say he wasn't really familiar with all the facts.

And did this get "interesting" only after Drudge threw up all the links you have?

You read about this for days but didn't post anything until Drudge went up with all the links?

Does anyone think for themselves anymore.

granted 2 sides to every story--but what do we know for a fact--

Lady saw 2 men prying door open to house and called police.

Police arrived and investigated.

(now thinking for myself) ;)

Now I don't know bout anyone else--but if I was in Gates shoes--1st person I'd thank is person who called police on someone appearing to be breaking into my property
the 2nd person I'd be thanking would be officers for responding.

--but guess the ole chip on shoulder gates-the Rev and Gumby carry make their 1st impression -- profiling rather than protecting property.

Must be sad to go around life like that--but then again the Rev moved to all white subdivision--O got same with help of "the Fixer" so who knows:)

That's the lamest of all excuses. Do you know what it was like growing up as me or growing up as DTB. Of course you don't. But I'm sure you can put in your 2 cents. None of us knows what its like to be someone else becausee everyone's experiences are different even if ethnicity, social status and economic status is same or even similar. Parents and friends and relatives shape much of what we are.

"So, you think you know what its like to be me?"

Give it a shot.

First of all my comment was pretty damn stupid.

I have no idea how life is for anyone but me.

However, I am not the one who is lumping anyone who is claiming racism into the nutty Rev Wright category.

And my two cents on this whole thing is that no one knows what truly happens and its pretty damn foolish to be throwing Gates under the bus already.

"the bunker"
what got my knickers twisted was bock`s statement that ended noting the disproportionate frequency with which blacks and latinos are stopped by the police..

wtf?.....it had absolutely nothing to do with profiling.... this wasn`t a discretionary stop for the police department...it was a 911 call. ...

the decision to respond had nothing to do with race, ethnicity, neighborhood, time of day, etc. ....

they don't file through 911 calls and respond disproportionately to the ones that involve minorities. ...

he slickly tried to imply that this cop was a racist....

bad form,dude...

The bottom line---the guy shouldn't have been arrested. I think the most telling detail is that no police report describes the situation where they had their guns drawn. Any potential burglary would have resulted in police taking all precautions to protect themselves against these potential intruders.

If there was no threat to them----that tells me they had the responsibility to calm the situation. Cuffing and booking him was extreme and unnecessary. How about once they got his ID and found out he owned the place---just apologize and go away. In this case police took his resistance personally.

Obama was right to call this s stupid act.

IMO
