As for the Freemasons, I think I've had enough interaction with them for awhile now after getting a "mouthful" in that other thread. lol...I really always wondered what they do and who they are... Well the one I now "know" is a hater who runs his mouth and doesn't get jokes very well and has little respect for women (in case there are other Masons running around here, I won't judge you all on his behavior...). Oh well, I've run into my fair share of haters over the years, so they don't bother me too much anymore. But I still prefer bickering with the nice boyz over in this forum
My Grandpa Murphy was a Freemason. I came accross his giant framed certificate at my dad's a few months ago. He was pretty proud of that membership. From what I could tell, I think they mostly just played poker and drank a lot. ...maybe the occassional hooker or something too. I know for sure he wasn't visiting Scottish hospitals or anything like that.

well said......it`s so funny that these people are so afraid of christianity as a belief system...and look to demonize and disparage it at every opportunity...
especially when compared some other religions......and their treatment of women,children,homosexuals et al....i.e. the more defenseless in a society...
what i`m saying is that in comparison,christianity is relatively benign....and fair...
our society...is based on that belief system..the most successful,modern,progressive society on earth...
is based on the declaration of independence...
the bill of rights....and their origins are traced back to?......
judeo christian ethic....
of course they`ll leave other faiths alone.....it can become dangerous to cast aspersions on certain religions...
it`s so much easier...for those that are faint of heart to slam the faith that won`t slam back....

I dunno, Gary. I can assure you I don't spend any time 'worrying' about eternal damnation. It really does not cross my mind, ever. In fact, this whole subject never crosses my mind. But after reading great, in depth posts from you, BLG, HH, etc, I figured i'd throw my (non) opinion out there. It is what it is, but on a subject like this, and global warming for that matter, i'll choose to take the 'we'll see what happens because nobody can definitively prove anything' tack.
However, I think you think hit my 'mindset', such that it is, right on the button when you use the term 'residual indoctrination.' I do leave a possibility that there is a higher being. When I say 'hedge', I don't really mean it in a spiritual sense, per se'. More just a lackadasical, no strong opinion, don't care, type of term.
Thanks bro, but I have no interest in reading a book that (presumably) tries to prove a negative any more than I have interest in reading Genesis.
I'm sure it's a great read for people on both sides of the fence on this subject that have interest, but I have none.
