I am still working on this game. Penn State has owned Maryland, but I think you will see a spirited effort on Friday night. Will be the liveliest crowd for a home game in a very long time (would have been even better if they did not lose to Temple and the line would be Even). If Maryland focuses on running the ball they will definitely keep this one close. Penn State still has some questions on offense but they are strong defensively. I think the MD defense will play well but the offense is the question, especially the offensive line. I expected the line to be a little lower than it is. Most are focused on the Temple loss, Temple losing to Buffalo and Penn State handling Buffalo. Maybe there is some merit to that, but not much in my opinion.

I will have more tomorrow, but this should be a good game. The head coaches do not like each other very much and it will be interesting to see if Maryland sells out for the black out. I know a lot of people that were going but canceled trips after they lost to Temple. I am still debating whether to go or not. I am getting a little old for night games!!

I don't buy that...Team A beat Team B, Team B beat Team C, therefore Team A should cream Team C stuff, either; it sounds good but doesn't always work out. I was thinking about playing Maryland but just can't make up my mind. I remember they beat Texas 2 years in a row so I know they are capable for getting up for a big game. I never have cared much for Franklin since his time at Vanderbilt when he (they) scored a late, meaningless touchdown against Ky just to cover the spread. I do respect him as a coach tho, and don't think he would have any problem running up the score against against you guys if he got the chance; I'm sure he would like to make a good impression in an area he likes to recruit. But still feel Maryland will keep it close, if not pull the upset, I just don't know if I want to put my money where my mouth is.

I follow Penn State football pretty closely. My older daughter graduated this past May and my younger daughter is a junior there. When the game is on the line, Franklin ALWAYS seems to call the WRONG play at the wrong time. Year after year. Doesn't mean they won't beat the Terps, but if it is close at the end, count on him to screw it up.

He has always seemed pretty sharp to me, but I was surprised last year in that bowl game against Ky when he tried that fake punt so early in the game and not the best field position; i thought that got them off on the wrong foot. Thanks for your input.

I am not a Franklin fan at all, but trying to keep that out of my capping the game! He will definitely run up the score if he has the chance and he does tend to make bad decisions when the pressure is on. Huge "show me" game for Locksley with fans and the alumni.

Bason, like I got on the side of the Owls few weeks ago. Your mighty Terps are in a perfect BET On situation this week.
Buy low sell high is my Philosophy.
Fear the Turtle this week my friend. :0008

I agree that the situation is ripe for an upset. I just want to watch the Penn St/Pitt game to get a better feel for Penn State which I will likely do early tomorrow morning.

I watched it, you my find how Pitt attacked UCF more valuable.
This one will go to 7 at minimum. So wait till kick.

I finally got to watch some of the Penn State/Pitt game. Penn State is not the 12th best team in the country. Their offense is not very impressive and Maryland's defense will give them problems. On the other hand, their defense will give MD fits. If Josh Jackson does not play better, MD can not win. If the offensive line is not better, they can not win. If MD does not run the ball more, they can not win. So, the issue is do I think they get better QB play and run the ball enough to win. The intangible is that this is the first sell out in College Park in over 4 years (and that was a Michigan game with tons of Michigan fans). This is a black out and they are installing extra bleacher seats to meet student ticket demand. I definitely think the home field and the atmosphere will play to Maryland's favor. I do think Maryland's offense will be better than against Temple, but not as good as we saw against Syracuse. They have to be able to run the ball first and then use that to open us the passing game. If they come out pass happy, they will not win this game. I think the key will be not to fall behind early in this game. On the flip side, if they can get an early lead it will put a lot of pressure on Penn State's offense.

I know the history between these two and really do not care much as it is not a factor on how they play tomorrow. This is certainly a situation Maryland can take advantage of and I think they can win this game. I am confident the defense will play well, the only question is the offense. Have to believe the coaching staff learned from the Temple game and used the time to get this team better prepared. Truth be told, I have had this game circled since the beginning of the season as I expected it to be a good situation for Maryland to win. If MD can run the ball 1 yard and beats Temple, this game is a Pk at best. Penn State looks like an easy play based on the Temple game especially with Temple losing to Buffalo. I said that Temple was not a very good team and it was simply an atrocious performance by Maryland. I think the week off was just what they needed and I do not think Penn State is as good as advertised. The gambler in me will take the points, but the fan will take the ML.

This is a huge game for the state of Maryland football no matter what happens the rest of the year. Lots of alumni coming and many recruits considering both schools will be watching. A win will give the program a huge lift and a loss will likely mean a sub .500 season and more doubts about the future.

My play is Maryland +7 or better. I have not played this yet, as I think game day money will come in on Penn State and push it back to 7, and then I will play it at +7.5. I can get it at +7 -125 right now, but I am willing to wait to see if I can do better.

I am opening a ML parlay with Navy tonight just for the hell of it.

Josh Jackson did not impress me at Virginia tech. I could not believe how well he started off at Maryland but when he played against temple that?s how I remember him as a hokie
He Is the Maryland game plan, he will be the key to the whole game. If Josh can take care of the football Maryland can win this game. :0002

I WOULD TAKE HIM BACK IN A SECOND...BEFORE HE BROKE HIS LEG IN 2018...2017 AS RED SHIRT FRESHMAN HE LED ALL POWER 5 FRESHMAN WITH 3000 YDS PASSING AND WAS 2ND WITH 20 TDs...I THINK PART OF THE TEMPLE LOSS WAS THE WHOLE TEAM READING AND BUYING INTO ALL THE HYPE OF THEIR EARLY SUCCESS BUT DO AGREE HE DOES NEED TO GET HIS PASS COMPLETION % UP FOR THEM TO WIN AGAINST QUALITY OPPONENTS.

Can not wait any longer as I have to go out, so here are my final plays for tonight:

Maryland +7 -125
Maryland +200

Maryland +200/Boston College +190 ML Parlay (+770)

Arizona State +4.5 -110 - this should be a very tight defensive game. I liked what I saw from Arizona against Michigan State. Would not be surprised to see them win, but I will take the points in what should be a close game.

Yeah, I thought he would get better but he is getting worse. He can not handle the pressure at all. The first interception was a clear and easy touchdown if he makes the throw, but he is not accurate at all.

Going to be a long year for the Terps. After seeing them prepare for Temple and having the extra time to prepare for this game, I have to seriously question Locksley and his staff.

They are just not very good. Piss poor capping on my part. I put too much faith in the coaching staff and I certainly paid for it.

I am already over it and moving on to tomorrow.

To go back to our "memories"...nothing at all wrong with "give it to him again"...until you don't know what down it is. That's what happened at that game my dad talks about.

I'm looking at UNC right now and so many points but I know Clemson is damn good and UNC is very average.

If you run for 4 yards a pop that is a first down every 3 plays. There was a coach years ago in Maryland that ran the same 4 plays the whole game. All running plays and just said come an stop it. I think he won 2 straight state championships. Too many coaches today want to prove how smart they are and just have to throw the ball all the time.

I do not think UNC is that good. Clemson QB has not been great so far which makes it tough to cover those larger lines. No play for me, but if I was forced to, it would be Clemson FH.

Hey BASON, Maryland guy! Got a question. Is there any way on God's green earth that Rutgers could beat Maryland straight up this weekend?

Being up front, I love 3 teams in the NFL this weekend, on a 13 pt teaser. I'm talking about...

New England (-2) vs Redskins
Philly (pk) vs Jets
KC (+2) vs Colts

I regard these as close to a very very high probability as I can get. That leaves one more game to fill in, and it's not in the NFL.

I don't want a "Yeah, so-and-so will kick butt this weekend", for example, Georgia. I need just a team that can just beat su a really bad program. Is Maryland it @ (-?)? Or should I say, is Rutgers it?

Thanks for letting me pick your brain, always read your threads!

ANY OTHER OPINIONS MORE THAN WELCOME, THANKS. :0008

I have not had a chance to really did into football yet, but I can say that my confidence level in Maryland right now is not very high and I would not recommend anyone bet on them this week. I am not sure how this team is going to bounce back and I am not sure the coaches can get them refocused. In short, I would stay away from the Maryland game.

Now, Navy + all those points would be very tempting to me. I think the Navy/Force game is going to be an excellent game and I likely will be in attendance! I would take a look at UAB over Rice, and while it may be more risky, Auburn over Florida as I think Florida's luck is about to run out.

I know you said no more NFL but I would take Pitt + all those points against the Ravens at home. Baltimore's offense getting a lot of hype but they beat the 2 worst defenses in the league (Miami and AZ), lost to the third worst defense in KC and just lost at home badly to a very average Cleveland team. Now they may match up better against the Steelers since they now have no downfield passing game, but I really do not see them winning that game by 2 TDs.
