wow, easy guys, you are reading more into this than intended, vinnie, i dirve a nice 2006 GMC Canyon Z71 4x4, that I enjoy both driving and using off road hunting etc, it has a sunroof, is a crewcab 4WD with six disc CD, and has 44K miles on it, I change the oil every 10K miles or one year with Mobile One filter and Mobile One XP synthetic. AL I was simply trying to provide a frugal point of view, my disdain has more to do with a sales guy coming back and saying he knocked someone in the creek by grossing the hell out of him. Greed is part of the reason we are in the shape we are right now. Debt is a burden for the entire country IMHO.
BTW for years I drove a different new car every 3 months, it is callled a "demo" and parts clerks, don't get them, but Parts Managers and Directors do. Nice thing about that is I did not pay for maintence, insurance, or depreciation, yep it was a part of my income. Did not even pay taxes for years on it, then it started being factored into my taxable income. I even received FREE GAS for over ten years at two different dealers.
Parts clerk, yep I did that for 10 months, commisioned parts counterman for about 3 years, then management until recently and it was my decision to step away from it. I am an excellent counter guy that works hard every day and knows the GM catalog very well. Nope I have never owned a Corvette or Caddy, but have driven many of both models and enjoyed both of them, loved the new 1990 Deville I drove for, the best part is I got to drive them for free,, I would have never paid to drive them. After seeing so many collisions in my time in the body shop, I am numbed no longer does new paint fever affect me.
AL the part about if you own top of the line was a common statement in the 70;s and 80's and that mindset is part of what got GM into the shape they are now or were at least.
Vinnie, I often have to take your comments with a grain of salt and do pass on remarking about your shall we say outspokeness, it is obvious people are different, if they were not it would be as they say a dull world.
Bingo cars don't trip my trigger anymore, I do however own a custom target rifle that I have more than 5K invested in for sheer enjoyment purposes. I could have bought a $400 down at Walmart if I could never afford what I really wanted:0074
Bottom line your judgement of what I can and cannot afford are miles apart. I am however not a six figure guy and being born and raised on a farm, I see more important values in the world than a million dollar bank account. I did however not leave college with six figures in debt, so that helped along the way also
Carry on both of you enjoy your life's and I will enjoy mine. They are short even if we make it into our 80's.
And with this I will end my part in this discussion.
