this has worked for me...

this has worked for me...

I ALWAYS start a season sport with a sum of cash i can afford to lose, say 1000 bucks and i will MAKE AN OATH ( i still seem to respect myself :mj07: ) not to SURPASS THAT AMOUNT no matter what:scared i go through that particular season  and if i don't keep my word on it i will have a friend to help me comply:142slap: and stay true to my wins and losses . Some times in the early years i went broke by the third week and had to quit and suffered the rest of the season from deprivation to wager which made me more realistic about dilapidating money easily.
I went from taking picks from so called PRO's to start my own picks and became a little more involved in the tought process of wagering and money management.
NOW ALL I DO IS WAGER WHEN I SEE VALUE AND ALWAYS TRY TO GET A GOOD PAYOUT ...no more juice plays for me...
i try always to parlay bets but only if i find teams right to bet that way ...also i try to get points in my plays...no -7.5 plays for me ...and the money i earn in wagering i use for VACATIONS for the family ... never to pay everyday living expenses as this may become part of my way of life and WAGERING SHOULDN'T BE A WAY TO EARN A LIVING, IT'S RISKY AND STRESSFUL ENOUGH:violin:
OK MAN with all this in mind hope you do the right thing and take action in your hands and life and just enjoy the rush...not the aftershock of wagers.

you have your health and a family....everything else is b.s....

just cut back on your wagers...why wager exorbitant amounts on crap like sports?....you can`t control the bounce of a ball or a ref`s ineptitude.....for 95%,it`s a losing proposition over a lifetime...

with an internet account, you can wager as little as a few bucks...you still have the thrill of the action....

....treat it as recreation...enjoy it...

All true.... except losing over a lifetime... There are some who make a living doing this....

Can someone please tell me how I can quit before I put my family in financial hell.

TIA:(

Its actually not so tough to stop. Get through one season and you are home free and will laugh at the thought of throwing money away again. The hardest part is admitting that what is already lost will never come back. But it's a crucial admission.

this is the reason I bet small, 25 bucks a game and bet 50 or 100 when I really like one and normally lose when I bet big. I set aside 1000 per year to bet football with and if I lose it, I quit, I bet all the other sports with my money for football. good luck, gambling for me is nothing more than a hobby, it sounds like you need to quit.

Why is GOD # 1 ?

1. Family (Providing For)
2. Health
3. Then God if that is your belief.

If you dont have family or health you have nothing.

I'm not sure why you chose to respond to my points and not address the thread topic. But I expect that from you at this point.

I disagree with your statement entirely, and believe if you don't have God in your heart you have nothing.

This is my opinion. Let's agree to disagree and move on. I'm trying respect your opinion and have nothing further to discuss with you.

I'm starting to feel this way myself... With the added role of provider, I'm going Scott-ATL route in 10' and playing specific games and lowering my bet amounts...

.50 a game anywhere?

One of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen is "Jesus Saves" right above sinful sports wagering selections.

Look at Poker after dark, look at those who make the lines now for us.... They were all gamblers at one time......

Any of the services that people pay are making money from gambling... Shit, they have ZERO risk of losing.. They just have to answer the phone, and change the sentence, "Give me your money, and I guarantee nothing.." over and over with ZERO risk... And then there are those who bet daily and have no "real job".... They HAVE to be making money... Right??? How else can they make a living? I know they are out there... Straight up gamblers... Do nothing else... Those that ARE doing it, usually add income sooner or later by writing a book; selling their story; or just saving a % and now have enough to retire on. I will introduce you guys to someone someday.... I have seen a FEW people on here that MAKE MONEY EVERY YEAR EVERY SEASON for the PAST 5+ years... (depends on the sport obv) You guys know who's +money in a certain sport on here EVERY YEAR... Some post their units +/- some dont.... But I think there are a few out there.

Your priorities need to be addressed. Luckily for you it could also be a New Year's resolution.

1. God
2. Family
3. Providing for your family.
4... etc

Gambling shouldn't be in your top 5...

Best of luck getting over this obstacle....

I thought the Green Bay Packers fit in there somewhere?
