kma, first let me say that i'm sorry for your loss....i can't imagine losing somebody close to me unexpectantly.....very sad...

i don't think it's necessary for anybody to lecture blazer on how wrong it is to drink & drive.....only knowing blazer from his posts at madjacks & not personally, i'm pretty sure that blazer got the message & will learn from this mistake....

i'm not surprised that taoist went out of his way to help a madjacker.....he has always struck me as a classy person who will do the right thing....

taoist's friend also did the right thing as any attorney would do for his client.....& everybody on this forum would want his attorney to act in his best interest if he had a problem....

there are many things that lawyers do that i don't like...there are too many to list.....but it seems to me that everybody is quick to bash them until they need one....

blazer,

let it go. I'm happy for you. be smart, learn your lesson and move on.

tao,

nice job, I know blazer appreciates the help. you're the one I'd want to call if I ever had a legal problem, lets hope that day never comes...

kma,

my heart goes out to you. you have every right to vent the way you did, good luck...

s-love,

I'll say a prayer for you tonight that you can get over the hate you have in your heart. it must be incredibly hard for you to live with yourself at times. I just don't know how you do it...

Just glad I could help Jamie. KMA, sorry for your loss. I also had a family member die from a drunk driver. People make mistakes, not everyone is perfect. As for S-Love, why don't you stay the **** out of these threads that have nothing to do with you. If you don't anything positive to add, stay the **** out!

whoever has a problem with this--kma etc.---should have a problem with the system. i know a dwi enforcement cop that gets drunk and drives all the time. i know another guy that was caught and his lawyer was thrilled to have a judge that drinks and drives and is very leniant towards this. look at leonard little from the rams idiot killed someone then was caught last year and is still not in trouble. you never answered what the persons alcohol level that killed your mom was i will guarantee it was not .9. tired people working all day--cell phone users---and old people are just as dangerous. if the system wanted to really stop drinking and driving they could they dont want to it is a big money maker for each state as sad as that sounds it is the truth so your gripe should be with the system and please tell us what the alcohol level of the person that hit your mom was.

Probably shouldn't post this either, but there are cops off duty drinking at my bar on a weekly basis. Do you think these guys take a cab? I highly doubt it.

If you think any cop in this entire country, would ever pull you over for doing 4 MPH over the posted speed limit, then you must still be drunk!

For the record, I was pulled over in 2004 on I-45 between Houson and Dallas going 74 in a 70. It was about 11 a.m. on Tuesday, and there was no inattentive driving going on. I saw him in front of me parked on the road, I saw him when I passed him (figuring I was safe only going four over) and saw him pull out. Seatbelt on, Texas plates (just so you don't think I was being a harrassed out-of-stater, which I think we all know is a common occurence from the boys in blue). There was no reason for him to pull me over except for the fact that he wanted to and I was, in fact, speeding, going four miles over the limit.

I have nothing to add/say about the main topic of this thread, but just wanted to mention that this does, in fact, happen.

Jamie, I certainly wasn't lumping you in with the rich kids, just an example I see and used. I'm glad you're not hurt, and I think you're a fine enough of an individual to learn from this, and further, I think you'll be responsible for NOT letting a friend in the future get behind the wheel. I'm sure you already have done that in the past as I'm sure most of us here have.

A lot of Holier then Thou people on this site...

Guess you can add me too this list as well........Having someone who has drank ten beers and driving is not what I want to see coming at me on the road, especially with my family in tow......You want to play cards and drink, get a cab......

Interesting thread, I am a bit suprised where a few people stand on the issue.

All I can add is this, I don't think you have to be "holier than thou" to know driving after 10 beers is just plain stupid.

My favorite argument of all time on this subject was at the clubhouse lounge after a round of golf when one guy was explaining his side of his 3rd DUI which he got being involved in an accident.

"The other guy was drunker than me" he argued, can't imagine his 4th DUI is far away, maybe because his lawyer keeps getting his charges reduced as well.....

Drinking and driving is not a smart decision, all I am saying is that I would hazard a guess that at least 90% of the people that have read or posted in this thread have at one time or another had to much to drink and driven somewhere... Just because you didn't get pulled over and Blazer did, doesn't make you a better person then him, just luckier that or those nights...

That's the fuking problem!

Everyone thinks, "That ain't gonna be me!" Including the guys who think they are okay to drive!

I really was trying to feel a little compassion for blazer, and still want to. He has always seemed like an alright guy. He just seems (especially after the response to my first post) to be a little blithe about what can happen.

People die on the roads every day at the hands of drunk drivers, and they are not all "plastered". That's what I was trying to get across.

How many times do they drive home and not get pinched? To talk about "first time offenders" is laughable. You mean, first time being caught.

Blazer? You say you have learned from this, and I truly hope you have. Like they say: "If one person learns something from this......."

I really appericate all of your opinions. Except for S-love who was just trying to be a dick, most of you seemed to honestly have an opinion and contribuited to the thread.

I do not endorse drunk driving.

I have already stated that I will be more careful.

I will update (and be beaten again) after the court date. :hitwithro

A Bar owner in a DUI thread? Geez I expect nothing but an objective opinion.

What's 'be more careful' mean? only 8 beers the next Poker night? Son, you're heading downing a path that only leads to a tragic end.

I'm sure you'll make a helluva attorney- can't even tackle an argument in an online message forum- when the heat got to be too much, he used Ignore- LMAO

What's gonna happen when you're in the midst of a heated trial and you don't like what the other side has to say-

"Judge, I strenuously object and ask that you put the plaintiff on Ignore"
