I got out yesterday to see all my BG friends that play poker. We call one of the guys "Chef", and he was cooking a gourmet meal. It was incredible. Filet mignon, grilled chicken, gourmet sauces to go over each, and a fantastic blueberry cobbler to finish it off. Outstanding.
Anyway, the game is 1/2 NL holdem. It's uncapped with most buying in for 100-300. Mississippi straddle applies as well as double, triple, quadruple straddles if people want to do them and for any amount. The game can be the loosest of loose to the tightest of tight depending on the players. There's also a tournament that starts later in the early evening.
I bought in for $100 and decided I was going to play solid and aggressive. I made a button three-bet to $20 and had 3 callers. I held J❤️Q❤️, and the flop was K J 2 rainbow. Small blind donks out $15, call, call, and I squeezed all-in for a total of $72. Might seem kind of dumb, but I was actually hoping it was a great spot for a squeeze, and it was as I got one contemplative fold followed by two quick folds. 3 bets are strong especially in this game, and they all gave me credit for bigger holdings, so I was off to a nice start.
I won a few more pots and was up to a stack of $205 when I looked down at two black Kings. There was a mid position straddle of $10 by the guy who runs the game who is a maniac, one caller, and I pumped it up to $40 on the button. Maniac calls, and we are heads up. Flop is 6♣️7♣️ 2♥️. He led all-in for a little less than me. I called right away, and he never showed but called for a 9 which did not come, my Kings held, so now I'm quickly up to a stack of $400 and change. I never know 100% how much money I have because I like large towers of red rather than uniform stacks of $100.
I continued to play solidly (mostly folding), and aggressively playing my button and the hijack. I looked down at A♠️4♠️ on the button and a limped pot. I made it $10 and had 3 callers. The flop was 9♥️ 4♦️ 5♦️. I bet $20 into a checked pot and had 2 callers. The turn brings a 2♠️ adding a gutshot to my outs. I bet $30, call, and call. The river was a 10♣️. First position moves all in for his last $70 very fast. I whisper immediately to my neighbor on the right it's a bluff. Problem is, I can only beat a bluff with my little pair. The other player is terrible, and she thinks for almost a full minute and makes a disheartened fold. I go thru the hand in my head. My first and immediate read is that he has a missed flush draw. I think anything else he would have raised me at least on the turn. I calculate the pot, and it's a good pot. I slide forward a stack of reds, he says, "I missed" and I table my little pair for the win. The player who folded obviously had the best hand, so I'm happy she vacated the pot.
I had AA a few rounds later in the UTG position. I decided to just call, and nobody raised  Action was 6 ways when the flop came 10♠️ 9♠️ 4♥️. I checked, and maniac horrible MAWW bets $10. I call, and the turn is a 9♥️. We are heads up, and she bets $30. I'm kicking myself, but I call anyway. The river is the 3♦️. I check, and she hurriedly bets $60 and stares at the board. I'm really not sure what I'm up against, but I convince myself that the turn 9 helped me, so I make a crying call, she doesn't turn over, so I show my bullets because I know they're good now. She claimed flopping 2 pair which means she had 10 4, but idk if she really had that or not. Doesn't really matter since I won the pot 😃
I continued to play and had high point of $620 up after this hand.
I was on the button, and it limped around to me, so I popped it to $11 with J♥️9♠️. I get two callers, and the flop is J♠️ 3♠️ 9❤️. Bingo! I bet $20 after it was checked to me, and I get two callers. Turn is the 4♦️. Check, check, and I bet $40. Call and a fold, so I'm heads-up. I'm praying for no ♠️ on the river when the 2♣️ comes. My opponent checks again, and I'm positive I'm good. I have been working on my value bets bc this is a spot where I would normally check it back and be content with the pot. However, I just know in my head that I'm good and that he has top pair or a busted flush draw. I slide out 3 green beans, he calls fast, I table my two pair, and he disgustedly tables his KJ which is no good. Boom! Nice pot and ship it to me!
I went a little card dead after I lost with QQ to my own hand of 65. It was only 8:30, but I decided to book my win, and there were a ton of people waiting to play anyway, so I cashed out. I racked up my chips, threw the dealer an extra $1, and my total was mysteriously $650. As I wrote before, I usually don't know my exact total, and I didn't know again here. The dealer gives me 5 Benjies, 5 $20s, and a Grant  I want to tip him out a little anyway, so I tell him to keep the Grant and just give me two more $20s.
Great food, fun time with all my BG poker buddies, and a profit. It was a good night any way u look at it.
