Good ol' Laughlin. Remember the first time I went there when I was 35. Harrahs midweek. Youngest person there. :scared
I imagine the poker scene is pretty dead unless 2-4 limit is your thing. :00x8

2/5

I started the night with a losing $220 bet on a NBA total  I need to quit that stuff! On to poker.

My first foray into 2/5 was pretty uneventful. I bought in for $500, and quickly was up $75 with 99 and a continuation bet on the flop then JJ check raising after the flop of 224. I then lost a few pots playing small pairs and suited connectors.

I was sitting on $500 when I was dealt 3♥️5♥️ on the button. It was raised to $15, and there were 4 callers before me, so I called (first mistake). The flop came 345 rainbow. This old Italian guy bet $45. He is terrible, and he plays every hand. It was folded around to me, so I popped it to $175. He thought for about a minute and went all in. I called, and he of course has the 67  so now I'm down to $150. I reloaded $300 more.

I was dealt two red Aces soon thereafter in the cutoff, and i sneakily just called. The big blind raised it to $35, and I called leaving us heads up. This guy is very loose, so he could have anything. The flop was AK3 rainbow. He bet $60, and I called. The turn was a second K, and we both checked. The river was a 5 and made the third ♥️. He checked, and I bet $130. He tanked then called, and I flipped over the winninf Aces full of Kings.

Soon after that, I was dealt pocket deuces. I flopped a set and checked it then called $40 with another guy. After the turn, he bet $70, call, then I popped it to $200. Both guys called. The river put 4 to a straight on the board, and it checked to me, so I was content to check, and my set was good 😅. I got to a high point of being up $390 then dwindled it back down before I quit.

I was happy with my play, and I'm fairly excited that the players were not great. I think I can beat this game, so I'm sure I'll play again in the near future. I'm working 4 in a row starting today, so I have to get some sleep.

Freelanc would know for sure, but the only time I went to laughlin, there was a pretty tasty looking 1/2 game going with big stacks. Might have been a fluke

Never played there actually just going by what I have read. Harrah's has a 2-5 NL but I am guessing it's a regulars infested nitfest. Imagine there could be a few decent games on a weekend in the summer with the younger boat crowd.
Play tournies at all 65?

I play them rarely, but I need to more often. Cashed 8th at the Wynn last week for a $600 profit. First one I played all year.

I worked Saturday, time change is tonight, so I lose an hour of sleep, and I'm playing poker now at nearly midnight local time  I might regret this decision.

I'm playing 2/5 again at the Wynn. I sat with $500, and I quickly was up over $100 when I flopped the nuts with A♥️Q♥️ The pot was 5 ways until the small blind led for $15 after the all ♥️ flop. I called that and his $45 turn bet. The river was the fourth ♥️ which killed my action, and he folded his 2 pair to my bet.

No other real consequential hands, and I'm card dead as usual. My highest pocket pair has been 10 10, I haven't been dealt AK, and the other best starter was KQ suited x2.

I'm having fun, and I'm learning this game as it plays a little differently. GL2Me. I'll post results later.

Side Note: my seat is facing the hallway adjacent to the poker room. It leads from the parking garage into the casino, and the talent is fine. It's really quite incredible the sights in this town especially these high end casinos. I love Las Vegas.

Just left the Wynn. Session high $200 up, and session low down $250. Completely card dead the whole night. Never had any of the top 6 starting hands in holdem, and I played 4 hours. I won $145 on the night, so that's a good result for being that bereft of cards.

I had a patient Friday who was admitted with a broken pelvis sustained after a fall. His case was non-surgical, but bc he has Parkinson's disease and a broken pelvis, he's not going to be able to go home. On my initial assessment, I noticed his abdomen was huge. He had bowel sounds, and he was having loose stools, but his abdomen was firm, tympanic, and huge. I notified his doctor, and obtained an order for a KUB (abdominal X-Ray). It showed a massive air-filled distended colon. A surgeon was consulted, and I rounded with her and filled her in. She ordered 2 soap suds enemas back to back which I did. It helped a little, and the patient passed a large amount of flatus.

Saturday morning, the patients abdomen was even larger. Another X-Ray was ordered, and a rigid sigmoidoscopy was scheduled with possible exploratory laparotomy and possible colostomy. I had to give some fresh frozen plasma and Vitamin K to reduce his bleeding time (he is on Coumadin at home) and he left for surgery. He returned 6 hours later with a large incision. The surgeon found a large volvulus, so she did a partial colectomy. He was close to having a ruptured bowel and then a most certain death. I'll see him again this morning, so I hope he's doing ok.

OK
Enjoy your threads and you do provide excellent care for your patients. Brother-in-law is an anesthesiologist and has practiced in LV for about 30 years now, Thomas Barson. Again thanks for the posts. Tom

At the Westgate watching some games. I can't get over how awesome these big screens are. The quality, the enormous size, the sound. There is no where better in LV or maybe the world to watch a game. My video probably doesn't do it justice. This is shot with an iPhone 60 feet away.

I haven't been off work on the first Thursday of the NCAA tourney in probably 10 years, so I'm really looking forward to that this year. Heading to the Wynn soon for some poker. Update later.

I'm going to be out there next week for the NCAAs. Looking for the best place to watch games. Sounds like you like the Westgate the best? Thanks.

Short update. Played 2/5, had a high as much as Up $700, lost a few hundred, then flopped a set of 6's on a 456 2 diamond board. Idiot bets $125 I push for $600, he calls with pocket 7s, and he hits a set on the turn. Terrible, and I quit. Should have been an $800 + winner and lost $500.

Long time no update. The first week of the NCAA tourney was last week, so I spent a lot of time at the Westgate watching those tremendous gigantic HD screens. The problem was I did some sports betting and blew a lot of my roll  I actually lost $1500 on sports being stupid and almost that more on BJ being even more stupid. Did I learn anything? Not really, bc I already knew it was a losing strategy especially when I get tilty. My good friends MJ and Smurphy always say I'm mr control, but really, I lose control like most gamblers. Anyway, on to some pictures and a little poker. I'll add these Westgate shots first. There was a photographer there and a disclaimer sign that you would get photographed at the sportsbook. He was constantly pointing that camera my way, so I took a few shots of him as well. Maybe I'll be in some future ads or literature

This dude could barely walk. He was hammered on alcohol of course but also on big benzos and narcs too. He'll probably be a trauma patient soon when he passes out and falls face first into the street. He has the wife beater, the multipurpose swim trunks, the XL gut sticking out, and the windswept Bieber-esque do. Model LV citizen and sports bettor.

My a last poker session at 2/5, i increased my $500 Buyin to $1200, and I was playing well but getting tired. Right then is when I should have stopped, but there were two German dudes at my table who were horrible. We were taking turns picking them off. I toasted off about $400 by playing too loose when I ran into this mess. I was dealt 6♥️6♣️ in the big blind. German guy makes it $25, and button stealer makes it $50, German/Indian SB calls, and I called (I know, terrible, but I knew the button didn't have anything, and I was hoping to hit against the german dude). Flop 4♦️5♣️6♦️. Small blind checks, I check, and German bets $125. Button stealer folds, small blind folds, and action is on me with a flopped too set. I put the guy on a flush draw. I know I'm ahead here, and I'm content to win this $325 pot now. I re raise after some thought to $570 and all in. The German guy tanks, thinks, ponders, talks, and finally throws up his hands, and says, "I call". I threw over my set, he throws down 7♦️7♥️, and the turn comes the 7♣️ the river is an inconsequential red K, and I'm felted by set over set. The table let out a collective groan, and I decided to leave down a buyin. I realized after the hand I was only about a 65% favorite when the money went in, but still, that 7♣️ was very hurtful!
This lovely young lady was running over the table for a while

She was fearless, and sitting on about 3K when I left. Very tough player.

Random stuff: small rant continued on how I can't stand the LV taxi drivers in general, and how much I love the fact that Uber/Lyft are destroying that industry. I love seeing the 30-50 deep empty cab lines, and It warms my heart seeing the empty cabs driving all over town. These guys are getting crushed. I used Lyft the other day because I have a bunch of $5 off rides. Here's the damage from my first ride (I always give them a cash tip even though it's not standard or recommended. It's not like the cab drivers huffing and puffing if u don't grease them with a 50% tip).

da22b2cac67ea895ce3232737a5d6945.jpg

I took a ride home later, and I was the female driver's 100th fare of the evening. That's 100 cabs who don't get a fare! Boom! Long live Uber and Lyft.

Edit: looks like I already posted the poker losing story, so sorry for the repeat. More detailed this time.

6/5 does not fuck around:firing:

Why do so many dislike Vegas taxi drivers? Just imagine how pissed off everybody in Vegas would be if they vanished tomorrow. Bam.....Vegas does not have any taxi drivers, wouldn't there be thousands of pissed off tourists, I'd say yes.

Just my two cents.
