recently seen: remake of Solaris and Avatar.
Solaris was decent, the 2004 version being reliable to the earlier 1972 take. Based on a Stanislav Lem story.
Avatar was decent--I'd agree with the allmovie guide rating of 3.5 stars outta 5. 'course, the freakin' version I saw had some kinda Eastern European subtitles for when the aliens speak--I assume that app. 10-15% of the dialogue is in xenospeak and I suspect that might have lent something to the enjoyment level. On the comp, too, so no 3-D'ness.
More interested in talking greatness in film.

Will get this outta the way first. Worst movie I ever saw is tough to gauge, but in the past few years it's got to be that Dan Brown based shiite--what the freak was it called?...not the Angels and Demons thing (haven't seen it and won't barring terrorist attack), but the pseudo-ness that preceeded it.
Nevermind...seen lotsa other crappy movies that one certainly comes to mind (just not the freakin' title).
Bestness is minorly iffy. Love the 1st 2 Godfather flicks, Silence of the Lambs, the Shawshank Redemption, Scarface, most Hitchcock flics, and many others that will likely come to mind once I submit current postage.
Still, if I had to pick two BB's (why choose one when the rules permit two?) then I think my personal faves would be
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
and
2001: A Space Odyssey
Silence would also make my top 10. Probably seen the GF flics too many times to still hold proper esteem; II makes my top 10 easily.
The Deer Hunter is probably my fave war flic, certainly my fave Vietnam flic, over Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Coming Home and Full Metal Jacket.
Anyways, 'nuff rambling.

Every parents nightmare, I have been in many
disturbing situations and have seen many horror movies, but this one took me 3+ hours to watch. I kept going outside for a smoke. Just another reason why my kids take martial arts and I am never without a firearm in my home.
Then I watched the wanted with Angelina Jolie.
Weak ! I wasted 2 hours of my life. :SIB

Terrible... never before have I sat in a movie and half way through it started looking around at the people in the auditorium wondering what I had to do in the coming week... anything, laundry, gym, what would be a good meal to cook... Did I need to pick something up from the grocery on the way home...

Definitely a different take on war movies, it dragged a little, but it was an interesting view into the life of someone that has an extremely dangerous job, and is very cavalier about it. I would give it 3 out 5 stars. I know its up for Best Picture, but I wouldn't give it that much praise.
great,great film........jones and duvall utterly kicked ass.....
tommy lee jones makes a comment about duvall`s clothes being raggedy....duvall answers:"i`m not one to quit on a garment just `cause it`s got a little age on it"....
delivered like a pro...written by larry mcmurtry...great,great western....8.9 stars out of 10 at imdb...that`s rare...

No I got it but a lot of the scenes at the end were not necessary. When he speaks to George in C Ward, I had it figured out...
It was over played... JMO.

I liked it a lot until they got a little carried away near the end with what that guy was capable of doing. :SIB I enjoyed the flick alright though.
Fletch is one of my favorite movies ever. I have seen it a million times... Love that movie...

I was sort of against seeing this just because, but am now giving in. I heard that it is absolutely necessary to go see this in 3D, but I want to know this:
Does it matter if you see it in regular 3D or IMAX 3D?
Should I even bother with either one? :shrug:

Saw it in 3d and it was prettty much the best thing about the movie, imo. IMAX3d if you can do it, as the cinematography emphasizes the landscape and world of the native people...

Yea I guess I was pretty much trying to find out if there was a huge difference between regular 3D and IMAX 3D.
They give you 3D glasses when you go in right?
