"when a old woman chases a young man, it makes her a cougar, so when a old man chases a young man, does it make him a nittany lion?"

this is a text i have gotten today 3 times in forwards from people, one of them being my own brother

i have seen a lot of jokes about it...

am i the only one who is fuckin just as much disgusted by the jokes as i am the actions...

fuckin unreal how people can make jokes and not give a shit when they are not related to the friends/families of the victims...

i can assure you if it was their children who had their innocence/childhoods destroyed because of this sick fuckin prick, the jokes would be much different....

fuckin sick people can think ilke that....

not callin anyone out on the site, but wtf are people thinking.....think of your family...

and yes, i told my brother all of this....i think thats why it pissed me off so badly today....

Did you go to Penn St. I know you had the Joe Pa avatar for a long time

i have 2 nephews that raduated from PSU in last 5years, i sent email to them & their dad 'WTF was joe pa thinking'
nephew replied
Yeah he really walked the grey line.

his dad replied
I believe Joe has the highest integrity and I cannot believe he didn't follow the correct protocols. I guess we will find out as time goes by. Hopefully he did the right thing and the witch hunt will focus on the guilty parties.

they must have drasnk the kool-aiid

the other nephew is a school teacher & very religous, cant wait to hear his thots

I know a few Penn State alums, and I have had similar conversations....what do they do to the people at this school? These are all either friends or business associates who appear to be bright people, yet they are completely buying that this is a Joe Pa smear job.....how can anyone possibly excuse this?

It's such a strange story since Paterno might be the only coach in the Country who would not have been run out of town with pitchforks already.....maybe you could argue Coach K has the same amout of clout, but I would have to think Duke would even run him out of town....

Initially I thought this terrible event was isolated to a handful of power players at Penn State....but the lack of action is starting to allow the entire PSU community to be cast in an awful light.

football...

but ya its terrible to think about...

not that i regret going there or anything, but glad i am long gone....couldnt imagine bein a student there now....

happy valley eventually will get back to normal, but not for a good while...

its a shame, cause its a great place....met a lot of good people, and we see how only a few can ruin and change an entire reputation of a place....

And how about how ESPN is reporting on this story....I noticed how they were leaving a key part of Paterno's quote out last night, and I'm glad someone picked up on it. Judge for yourself. (Taken from a Deadspin.com article)

You guys have lived for this place. I've lived for people like you guys and girls. I'm just so happy to see that you feel so strongly about us and about our school. And as I said, I don't know if you heard me or not, is, you know, the kids who were victims or whatever they want to say, I think we all ought to say a prayer for them. It's a tough life when people do certain things to you. But anyway, you've been great. Everything's great, all right.

What the written transcript doesn't reveal is the very clear sense that the man who is speaking is not only lost and doddering; he's also got lawyers in his head clear down to his brain stem, all of them telling him not to say anything substantive. That's the most reasonable explanation for that awful "or whatever they want to say." The word "victims" came out of Paterno's mouth, and he immediately tried to back away?calling them "victims" means assuming Jerry Sandusky's guilt?which got him tangled in his own syntax.

Still, the words come out, clearly and on the record: He refers to the young boys whom Sandusky allegedly sexually abused as "the kids who were victims, or whatever they want to say." This is an 84-year-old trying to be both a crisis manager and a moral leader, and failing miserably at being either. That's one uncomfortable truth to have emerged out of Happy Valley in the past couple of days, and his brief speech made it plain to anyone paying attention. This is how media outlets dealt with the quote in question.

Daily Collegian:

"The kids who were victims, whatever they want to say, I think we need to say a prayer for them," Paterno said.

USA Today:

The kids that were victims or whatever they want to say, I think we all ought to say a prayer for them.

Washington Post:

And as I said, I don't know if you heard me or not, is, you know, the kids who were victims or whatever they want to say, I think we all ought to say a prayer for them.

CNN Wire:

Paterno told supporters outside his home Tuesday, "It's hard for me to tell you how much this means to me ... You know, with the kids that were victims, whatever they want to say, I think we ought to say a prayer for them ... tough life when people do certain things to you."

Fox Sports:

And as I said, I don't know if you heard me or not, is, you know, the kids who were victims or whatever they want to say, I think we all ought to say a prayer for them.

Chicago Tribune:

The kids who are victims ... I think we all ought to say a prayer for them.

AP:

"The kids that were the victims ... I think we all ought to say a prayer for them," Paterno said Tuesday night at his house.

ESPN:

Paterno asked the students to say a prayer for the alleged victims, adding that "it's a tough life when people do certain things to you."

And finally, via Breaking Tackles, the ESPN ticker:

The kids that were victims, I think we all ought to say a prayer for them

Shut the fuck up paterno. The Board of Trustees do not have to spend another minute on my status because I'm retiring at the end of the season.
Asshole, you're done. Fuck you. No fucking way he should be on the field Saturday. Fuck you you egomanic piece of dog shit.

I'm all for Paterno getting the shower treatment from his ex coach and I'll say a prayer for you ...fucking asshole. Had all the power to shut this shit down and yet did not. Guilty son of a bitch.

love it--fuck you joe--I'll say a prayer for you or something--its just a start:sadwave:

DIng Ding Ding. Winner.

They would have never done a fucking thing if this had not blown up like this.

There was no other choice. The whole country is demanding he be thrown out.

That's only the beginning.

they were worried about their accrediation getting yanked I'm sure.

Not sure if anyone is listening to this press conference but there are some reporters hammering on letting JoePa coach the rest of the season and why they were removed prior to the investigation being fully complete.

What schmucks still view this through rose-colored glasses?

Addict it started AT LEAST in 1994 with Sandusky and probably even before

Being a HUGE Bama fan, I feel your pain with the loyalty to your school ... tough times bud

And remember the main focus is to those MANY kids that were abused and used under the university facilities and watch
