Jack, I dont know about where you live...but Ritas in PA are gold mines.....1st off youre only open 7 months max...you have little overhead and a small little shack and hire HS kids for minimum wage...this little thing attracts kids baseball, softball, summer basketball teams like flys on horseshit....

to boot you can get a little cart and take it to sporting events, concerts, car shows, carnivals, picnics, etc...

most people have more than one and take in the coin.then take off for 5 months..im assuming they are pricey is because they make money....

I know someone who has one of these in the Pitt area. Though they like it, they put in a ton of time. The h.s./minimum wage employees are great from a financial perspective, but need to be monitored constantly. Either you need to be at the store quite a bit, or pay for managers, which then hurts your bottom line.

Went to one these last summer that was located close to a bunch of youth sports fields, and it was SRO. They needed a cop to direct traffic there were so many people going through there. All self service. You dispense your own yogurt, put the toppings on you want, and then pay by how much it weighs. Two people running the cash registers and two people filling up the toppings bar, and it was some good stuff.

With respect to home care / companion services, they may be paid under Long Term Care insurance but I don't think it's covered under Medicare or Medicaid. Many states cover personal care under their Medicaid but an RN has to assess and evaluate the patient's need for it. The services are usually limited to a total of 20 hrs/week and require Nursing Aide or Assistant certification. It can be a great business if you can find patients who can afford it independently and are willing to take on the potential liability.

A couple of years ago, when my mother was in the hospital, she needed to be monitored 24/7 because we were concerned she'd try to get up in the night and fall or pull out her IV's. We paid an agency $25/hour for a "sitter" who provided no service other than to stay awake, get fresh water, and call the nurses if needed.

I've had a couple of ideas about business opportunities but can't afford to start them up. If you're interested at all, get in touch and I'll share the concepts. This is open to Jack or anyone else. These are unique ideas that I believe could be very lucrative if pursued.

These are great and they do not have any in Indiana that I've ever seen. In Baltimore they're all over the place. Little stands selling them.

Might look into the options of getting small trailers and setting them up in various locations.

From looking into their franchises, it looks like they only want to setup stores and are wanting ~$300K for ONE. I did send in an application and request for more information. :0008

I know a guy who has one in Richmond and he hates it. He does okay but the company is steady on his ass monitoring him and his usage of ingredients. They have a formula to determine how many donuts you sell and if you use more jelly filling, for instance, they will say you sold 500 jelly donuts and charge him for 500 jelly donuts when he only sold 250. That's why the fillings in Dunkin Donuts is VERY light.
