Very entertaining thread :toast: hashish awesome story. Hopefully u get that great beer soon!

Do the casinos there have sports books or is there off shore there?

Again great thread thanks :0074

Damn I guess u didnt like my ?? LOL:toast:

Sorry, I missed them. No, there are not sports books here. The casinos here are pretty rinky-dink operations. The ones in Trujillos barely even have table games. Some of them don't and are just electronic games. I make my wagers with offshore books.

have you visited Machu Picchu?

What time zone are you in?

I haven't made it there yet. My brother was supposed to come here last spring to go with me, but then he backed out. I will be going there before I leave here. The time zone is eastern right now and will be central when daylight savings time ends.

I have some friends and family that have been there and they said its worth the trip. I've been to Ephesus in Turkey and want to see machu piccu and angkor wat before leaving this mortal coil.
How easy is it to travel from the states to where you are and what is the weather like most of the time?
Can you make a week of being lazy on the beach catching some rays?

Oh we both know who/whom I'm talking about. But because I'm a nice guy I wont mention names.

:SIB

No they haven't although I would certainly welcome them as well as yourself should you ever decide to have a visit and such.

Hope that helps,

I don't know about Neiman Marcus or Prada, but I'm sure they can be found in Lima. Don't know about Mercedes delaers, but I have seen some on the streets. No Whole Foods as far as I know. A Starbucks just opened at the mall that is 20 minutes away from me. I'm sure you can get a mani pedi for cheap, but I don't know the prices as I am not metro. I don't smoke cigars, but my friend that does says they are pretty decent. There are strip clubs. The difference here is that they have rooms in the back with beds where you can take any lady that catches your eye.

The history of Spain and their gold expeditions are the stuff of legends and great grief to the Continent.

Gold buyers? Sellers? Banks?
Miners?
Panners?

Gold is very important to the economy and one of the reasons that the Peruvian currency has been destroying other world currencies is due to the large production of it here. There are lots of mines and a popular topic of discussion here is the damage that they are doing to the environment. There are sometimes protests up in the mountains where they will block the roads and keep traffic from moving through the area. I don't really know much about the buying or selling of it though, sorry.

Not to be negative but are there any kidnappings of foreigners ?

You're thinking of Colombia, and that hasn't really been an issue there for the last decade. I truly feel completely safe here. Of course, take that with a grain of salt as I am not one to really worry about safety that much. The only things tourists really need to worry about in South America are digestive issues and petty crime.

Awesome thread man! I often dreamed of doing what you have done. I wanted nothing more than to go somewhere to surf and chill. In college me and my friends would talk about doing it for a couple of years after we graduated. All of us pussed out though. Now my wife and I talk about it. We always look around to try and stay up on places. Both of our kids will be in college in 10 years, I'll be 50 and would love to retire in a place like Peru. I think at 50 I will still have 10 good years of surfing in me.

What's your living situation like? Can you purchase homes there and what are they like?
