Sorry to butt in...

Don't do it under your
current circumstances...

Its not Disneyland.....

Maybe a good visit for a week or 2 , party, gamble, eat buffets....

It's a veritable unforgiving meat grinder of a city if you are
not prepared financially and emotionally.

Just letting you know that the Motel 6 (next to MGM) has good monthly rates, I have stayed there for a month at a time in the past. Some rooms have a kitchen and all the stuff you'd need (fridge, etc, etc, etc). Maybe stay there for a month or two and then you can decide on a place that you can live full time.

But here is the kicker, with your Military discount (you said you were in military, so assuming you can get a discount) the room will be that much cheaper.

Anyway, just my two cents.

B went back to Kentucky unexpectedly last week for a death in the family. I stayed in Vegas and worked some overtime. If we don't work, we don't get paid, so it would have been super rough for both of us to miss work for a whole week.

Not too much happening, so not much to write about. My insomnia has been terrible, so I'm still slowly adjusting to working during the day. Last week, I slept 3 hours, worked a 12 hour shift, then slept 3 hours in 3 different 1 hour increments before going back to work. Rough day to say the least. I do like working days though BC I see all the doctors on rounds, and I can be a better advocate for the patients and get things done that are needed. Physicians need to be told what to do much of the time bc they are overburdened and don't take the time to do a thorough job. That's where a good RN steps in and makes sure the patient gets what they need.

Speaking of that, we use this dressing a lot in the hospital. It goes on the sacral region and is meant to help protect the skin on this area from pressure wounds especially on the elderly who can't move as well and are susceptible to "bed sores". They still have to be turned and kept clean, but this is a good tool.

This time of year, my drive to work every morning is met with this

The rising sun is directly in line with the left turning light (you can barely make it out in the picture), so I pretty much get blinded every day for a few minutes. The road is called EAST Desert Inn for a reason.

A short video I obtained of a lady sprawled out over a craps table

And some dreary looking cloud pics that would have been a certain rain at home but really mean nothing here. No rain at all.

Do you eventually expect to get a job nor are you able to sustain your self on Gambling ?? There are short term rentals avail all over Las vegas. Not sure of their quality any more Been 6 years since i spent extended time there. There is a place just past Mandalay Bay some kind of Manor Suites i believe i stayed at when it opened.. There used to be all kinds of Harbor islands around . Siegel i think is around weekly monthly today. Fremont street has all kinds of places not a good area though. Think thats the area Trooper lives Think he is on Main St down from The Plaza and Main st station. Try Air BNB for starters . Also Holiday Royale. off tropicana close to the air port a block from Hard Rock . stayed there too way back when.It is gated these days Safe !!

Trooper's place is about $500 a month with kitchen, desk, bed, free parking, everything included.

That's where you start off unless you want to pay about $1200 for an extended stay that's a little bit better. Nicer area, whatnot.

Take your time looking for a place to settle down.

From the discussions that we have had in email, I would go as far away from Vegas as possible. Gambling is NOT the answer and you won't be able to avoid it in Vegas. You won't.

So far my pricing on hotels are pretty high, Motel 6 monthly is avg of 58 a day which is 1750 monthly. Insane IMO......cheapest I have found is Circus at about 34 a day still a grand a month. I have put a lot of search engines in but nothing really good yet.
Any ideas I am ready to listen

Holy Chit how times have changed ib LV. Last stayed here in 2010. The rate for a studio was $395. 1 Br which i stayed at and it was fine. The key was i wd arrive late DECEMBER with a studio reservation They never had studios that late because all the snowbirds wd have filled them. So I got an upgrade to a 1 BR free. After seeing these prices i know i will never go to LV agin. Last time i was in PR I had a 3 BR Luxury Home on the ocean $2500/month . They are $3000 now But outside of the San Juan tourist area I negotiated a 1 Br studio completely furnished for $1250. mo TV cable and internet and all utilities included for this year. and i am right on the ocean. After the Crash in LV i was getting daily emails for 2 br condos from $30,000 to $40,000 >>>>>>>$50,000 got u a stunner place, U may wanna check that if you are planning on staying a while. If you bought 1 at $50,000 your mortgage wd be squat and taxes are florida low.... Even if in 2 3 years you had to walk away u wd be way ahead of paying close to $2000. month for a short term reantal. and you can always sell at a loss. Hope that helps some what..

Like i said i only paid full price once for a 1 BR. Very good chance they will be out of $800 studios and you don't need the extras bring your own linens and utensils 2 nd suggestion try Craig's list classifieds I have gotten tenants from a 100's 0f miles away.....
