i must have 2000 black birds that decided to make camp in my back yard.

the problem is; the shit on my deck, my deck furniture, my house and my cars.

christ, i've been to the car wash 2 of the last 4 days and have to go again tomorrow. and it's so bad that the guys at the car wash always comment about WTF i have been to get hit like that. (i imagine car wash guys see a lot of dirty cars and don't usually make comments).

how do i get rid of these pests?

any help appreciated.

kurby

Jack, my dad and I were just talking about this the other night .... is it trees in your back yard that they hang out in, if so, can tell you something that worked like a charm for a local church.

more details, please.

This isn't the time of year to be having blackbird problems associated with roosting birds. I'm surmising that these are American Grackles like bad posted and that you have pine trees they are raising babies in. I have one of the same problems, and there's really not much to do about it.

I still live in the city limits, so I can't shoot them. I have killed a bunch in the past with a pellet gun, but that is tedious and not effective. Believe it or not, they are also NOT considered a pest here and against F@W laws to kill. What a joke.

In the fall, when they start flocking up and roosting at night, you can get rid of them by you and your neighbors making a heck of a lot of noise every day at dusk for a few weeks until they go somewhere else. The huge flocks are primarily starlings and cowbirds.

I wonder if the birds flew by and seen all the dandelions gone and the yard looked to tempting to fly by so they decided to lay on it.
I personally like the ones that camp out behind the shudders. I had to rip all mine down. Nobody could sleep.

Jack, if you can kill just 1 or 2 for each tree, nail them on a 2x4 and then put the board in the tree, it seems the rest of them don't want to hang out with dead relatives and just go away.

:scared

i'll give that some thought but i'd have to get somebody to do the nailing.

i read somewhere (maybe BTB's link) that they go away soon. i remember this problem on a lower scale last year and it didn't last that long.
