Living in Las Vegas
I have been playing some poker with decent results, but nothing too shocking. I have toyed with the idea of taking a shot at 2/5 and playing some PLO, but I haven't done it yet. I'm having more fun playing poker at least. I had a good session at the Aria yesterday. The Aria has a premium poker room with Fiji water as the standard. It's also ice cold, and of course u can get whatever drink there you desire. The waitresses come by frequently too. The dealers are ok, but I only enjoyed one of them (the others were duds).
Old non-hot dealer with resting bitch face (a sure sign of impending doom for 65, so I took a bathroom stretch my legs break when she sat down).
A funny thing was that she kept telling the guy next to me in the 3 seat to put his antes/bets more towards the center of the table so she could reach them easier, but when somebody put that $1 tip out there after the hand she sure could reach that haha!
I was at Caesar's Palace on Sunday, and I sat two to the right of an interesting guy. His name was Jarod, and he has the Seven Stars card. This is like the Diamond card times 10 and you have to be a high roller to attain this. The Seven stars card means they really roll out the red carpet for you and essentially everything is free. He ordered a Fiji water for me since the best they serve there without the seven stars card is Evian (let me make a small point here. The bottled water at the CET properties sucks! It tastes like plastic, and I'm quite sure it is loaded with carcinogens from sitting on huge pallets in the sun for extended periods of time. Premium bottled water is important to me when I play).
After an hour or so, he asked me if I had eaten. I told him no, so he took me on a tour. He told me that the best stuff was in the back of the high limit Baccarat area. I had never even heard of this area, so I followed along. The room was very full, and the minimum bet was $200 at some tables and $500 at others. I don't know this game at all except that u bet banker, player, or tie, and that there is no skill set to it even though I see people writing things down constantly. Jarod told me that if you are playing or seven stars you can get into this room. He said they never check for the seven stars ID, so we just strolled through like bosses to an unmarked door. The room was about 600 square feet, and he walks over to the hot food area, and exclaims, "Yes! They have the duck!" I have hunted ducks many times, and I have eaten them too. I was not excited because ducks are one step above geese which are one step above liver. I tried to match his enthusiasm, and I served myself a plateful of duck, noodles, and chicken stir fry. The food, including and especially the duck, was incredible. I absolutely loved every bite.
When we were done, he said, "let me show you this room". Tucked in a corner there was another unmarked door. We went inside, and it was about a 200 square feet room with a stalled toilet, a sink, and two chairs. He said this is where he entertains his female guests, and he pointed to the open door which had a lock on it from the inside. I had never heard of a casino door/room that the patron could enter and lock from the inside. This is where the high rollers can get away with their ladies for a quickie!
Next stop was the high limit slot room. This housed another unmarked door. Inside this room was a luxurious leather couch and a selection of macaroons. Jarod said he also brought ladies there (dimmer switch on the room light). Now I have had the tour from the high roller perspective.
The next day I went to the Westgate to eat on my comps, and I sent jack and Smurph my little parlay. I never bet parlays, but I did here BC I didn't want to expose myself with big sports bets and to have a little action.
Winner! I ate at the sushi bar. It was expensive and good, but it didn't compare to Sakana.
The sportsbook is still not finished, but the viewing experience is still amazing. https://vimeo.com/143161376
I Work the next 3 nights. Our celebrity is gone I read, so things should me more normal. My Haiti trip is a little over 2 months away, so I need to buckle down and work more extra shifts to pay for it.
I also ran into the Trooper the other night. The game at the Linq was nonexistent where he was working, so we chatted a bit about his upcoming projects. His videos are really getting good, and it sounds like he has some exciting things going on in the near future. Hopefully they all work out for him. I asked him if he was worried that he needed to match each video with the subsequent one and therefore worried it was all too time consuming. He said no and that he still loved doing them.
